Publisher's summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Kingsbury comes an emotional story of forgiveness and healing. In between a checkered past and a fairytale future, three people must find a way forward.

Brad Cutler is a 28-year-old rising star at his New York ad agency, about to marry Laura James, the girl of his dreams. Anyone would agree he has it all: a great career, a beautiful and loving fiancée, and a fairy tale life ahead of him—until memories of his high school girlfriend, Emma, begin to torment him.

Lost innocence and one very difficult choice flood his conscience, and he is no longer sure what the future will bring except for this: he must find his old love and make amends.

Friends since childhood, Brad and Emma became a couple in high school—before their relationship was forever altered by a single decision. Haunted by the past and confused about the future, Brad turns to God seeking forgiveness and redemption for the choice he and Emma made long ago.

Brad, Emma, and Laura must work through the repercussions of a decision made as teenagers that continues to affect each one of them before any of them can look toward a new future.

too much

This book had a lot of promise but it was just TOO MUCH, too much crying, too much sobbing, too much, too much. I usually enjoy Kingsbury and the premise for the story is good but her writing was just dragging on the points and everyone was SOOOOOO sad and depressed about everything and it really wasn't one of her better books.

Very Inspirational

I thought this book was very inspirational, as is all of Karen's books I've read so far. This book raises the awareness of the emotional and spiritual stress caused by the choices we make and cannot undo. A very good read in my opinion.

Powerful

This book was one of my favorites Kingsbury books. I was put into the situation of each character and could appreciate how forgiveness and redemption was given and received when the issues at hand were faced. I wish all who have found themselves in this situations could read and understand the redemption that is available.
Thanks Karen for being honest about the effects of abortion on the life of those who choose it.

PLEASE!!!!!!

I will attempt to make this short and sweet by simply getting straight to the point. Don't waste your credit. The idea behind the story is good, but it could of been written much better. Instead of taking 10+ hours, this story could of been told in half that time; it just went on and on. I got half way through it, listened to the last chapter and that was enough for me. Without spoiling the story too much, I found the characters to be less than realistic in their approach to problems. I don't want to minimize the seriousness of the theme but, please!!!!! Also, Brad, the main character, inability to formulate his thoughts and his constant hesitation made me want to puke. The narrator was good, but the story was not. This is not Mrs. Kingsbury's best, if you are listening to her books for the first time, try the Sunrise series or the Redemption series or any Terry Blockstock book. I think three stars is more than fair for this book.

Wow. What talent to be able to write like this.

Tears and laughter. You almost feel like you ate part of it and leaves you wanting for more.

I'll be a Spoiler for your Benefit

I gave this book one star because I can't give it none or negative stars. It is right-to-life propaganda. No where in the description of this novel does it indicate the entire storyline is about two (poorly developed) characters struggling with the decision they made to terminate a pregnancy 10 years earlier, both of whom are apparently totally paralyzed by their past and unable to accept the basic tenant of their proclaimed faith: God forgives. Not only could the story have been told in about 30 minutes, it will be offensive to anyone who is not a diehard right-to-lifer. The description of the book is deceptive. I want my credit back.

Incredible!!! Powerful!!!

Great story! Highly recommend it!!! So, so good! This book couldn't have been easy to write. It is a tough topic but a very important one that has to be talked about so that people can be free of the secret so many stay stuck in afraid of judgement. I highly recommend this book. It was so good and full of emotion. Raw emotion. Thank you Karen Kingsbury!

Shades of Disappointment

I usually love Karen Kingsbury books & although the story was good. It dragged on & had a lot of unnecessary sub stories
