I just love this book it had everything that made a book simply great
And the characters like bull and angus are very memorable

Story Review:

Round and Round continued the trend of this series. This was another cute but fast romance interspersed with a bit of mystery and characters who needed healing and growth. The author kept the story moving by keeping me wondering about the identity and motivation of the bad guy. It was this mystery and the bit of character growth that kept me interested because the romance was pretty much established right off the bat and was mostly solid throughout the entire story. I was glad Kevin found his “MacDreamy Hotness” and that he and Angus worked so well together, yet they were still not perfect.

I liked this series and this story was no exception. Andrew Grey is one of my go to authors when I want a satisfying read without too much emotional strain. I thought this story wrapped up the foursome nicely and I really hope officer grumpy gets his own story because he intrigued me and I want to know more of his history.

Narration Review:

Overall, I thought this narration was very good. It hit the high points of the emotions and the story. The narrator really brought the characters to life. I took of stars because the story specifically said the main character did not have an accent except in extreme cases and specifically called out the instances when the accent was audible. However, the narrator had the character with a thick accent from page one.

McDreamy Saves the Day

Who was your favorite character and why?

I guess I didn't have a favorite although Angus was an intriguing and strong-willed man. Kevin, despite his small stature was also quick to stand up for himself.

Any additional comments?

I love voice actor Michael Pauley's performances every time. This is always engaging and entertaining. I never feel as though I'm listening to one person but that there are multiple people telling the story.

Great performance

I enjoyed this book a lot. It took you on a different journey and than the other books in the series. My only negative comment is there was no need for the music leading into and out of a chapter. It was distracting and unnecessary.

Nice story and continuation of series

Though this is book four in a series, it can be read as a standalone and be understood, though the recurring characters are from the earlier books and add to the overall enjoyment if you’ve read them.

Kevin is the last in his circle of friends to find his forever guy and he’s wishing for that man to come into his life. He’s had some bad relationships and is a little leery of the love em and leave em type he seems attracted to.

Kevin ends up meeting Angus at a fire at Bull’s club (from book 1) and then again at a fire at his apartment building the next day! In both cases Kevin was integral in helping put out the fire, though he’s a computer guy, not a fireman.

Turns out the club fire was intentional, and the fire-bug now has his eyes on Kevin as he sees Kevin as thwarting his efforts.

Angus and Kevin start to date after Angus confesses his interest in the cutie Kevin, and at first things go great – up until the pillow talk after sex where Angus essentially insults Kevin after Kevin accidentally pushes one of Angus’ buttons.

In any case, after Kevin ends up hurt in yet another fire, Angus and he begin to be a partner in fighting against the serial arsonist and this draws them closer, despite their differences.

If you’re a fan of the series you’ll love seeing the whole gang again. It’s pretty heavily centered on the fire and finding the arsonist but there’s plenty of relationship building and smexy times as well.

If you haven’t read the series, but are a fan of Andrew, you’ll like this as well, because it’s pretty typical for the author. He always gives us really “real” MCs, well researched back stories and story lines and solid writing.

The mystery takes a big part of this story, so if that bugs you, I’d skip this story.

Audio

Michael Pauley does a pretty good job with this. He give Angus a nice “authentic” Scottish accent and Kevin a light but not swishy voice appropriate to their characters. My only complaint was that at one point Kevin points out that Angus’ accent is only really pronounced when he’s in bed or tired or emotional and Michael gives him the same “level” of accent throughout the entire book and it’s very heavy and pronounced. If you love accents you’re in for a treat, if not, it’s a pretty big part of the story and might impede your enjoyment.

Heating UP

Very dramatic introduction to Kevin's story. Sometimes I thought that their wariness was going to keep them from getting together. This one kept me on the edge both the with drama of the fires and relationship wise. The narration was wonderful and really helped to draw you into the story.

Great plot

I loved the first book, returned the second book half way through and skipped the third book because of reviews. But this book piqued my interest and had a new narrator. I’m glad I took a chance. The road for the MCs getting together wasn’t easy which I like, but the best part was a great crime solving plot. Not reading the second and third books wasn’t confusing to me. I already knew all the characters and it was easy to figure out what happened in them.

What a wonderful way to end a series.

Any additional comments?

I recommend this book for anyone who has read the rest of the series. It can comfortably be read as a stand alone but I think you will be drawn into their world and want to read the other books, too. And, if you drool over hot (in every sense of the word) firefighters, this is the book for you.
I think the first in this series remained my favorite, all told, but I liked the glimpses of the characters the reader got with each further part of the tale.
