Just Okay

I was hoping for something a little more. Found my mind wondering constantly which tells me the story wasn't captivating enough for me. On the bright side, the narrator was good and did the different voices well. Wasn't so bad I want a refund. Perhaps it was just my mindset at the time. Was looking for something that would scare the heck out of me and this book did no such thing.

Great listen, great story, great author!

Great listen. I found Joseph Nassise for his book, EYES TO SEE, a few months ago and loved the storytelling, the pacing and the way the story unfolded. I immediately started looking for more of his work and found RIVERWATCH here on Audible. A really great listen, scary story, a lot of "how the hell are they going to get out of this." moments.

Solid horror story

To say this story is a rollercoaster ride is an understatement, this review is based on listening to the Audible version of Riverwatch. This is a solid horror story with well-developed believable characters, who each have very human weaknesses, but when pushed have an inner-strength that pushes them toward their goal. While the overall story is the ancient battle between good and evil, Mr. Nassise has told it in such a way that it fully captured my interest and held it until R.C. Bray read the final line.

Things that go bump in the night

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year! If you love intense action then this is the one for you. It’s horror but more in the line of monster hunting. Sort of reminds me of Jeremy Robinson’s writing and maybe some of Jonathan Yanez’s urban fantasy. I loved the elderly man, Gabriel. He is older than people realize though. He has been a guardian of humanity for centuries. He helps protect against an evil man has long forgotten. A creature unlike any other. But this creature has been set free from its prison and only Jake and his friend, along with a sheriff can help him destroy it. There are some really scary parts where after listening I had some bad dreams about a creature chasing me. I love books that do their job of getting to me lol. I really got attached to the characters and, not to spoil anything but some don’t survive the task so I was upset when that happened. But this made it all the more real to me as a reader. This story brought a whole new meaning to things that go bump in the night.

It was OK

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It helped pass the time, but it wasn't anything special.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was too easy to guess.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Nothing special one way or the other.

Did Riverwatch inspire you to do anything?

Look more carefully at story lines.

Any additional comments?

It was a pretty predictable story, and the characters didn't have any suprises.

Perfect blend of paranormal and reality.

This story was a great listen, keeping me interested and eager for the next chapter. The story dives into the paranormal but in a very believable way leaving me to think about the possibilities. Not a completely predictable story which makes me ready to read his next book. Narrator has a really good handle on the characters and his voice changes fit perfectly. Enjoyed the entire book. May actually listen to it again sometime.

Monster, The Paranormal, So fun to listen to.

Enjoy a story that fights monsters to protect humanity. Great characters. Performed well. Kept me reading. As a reader/listener I was totally happy with this choice. Loved it. I want to listen to this author in audio.

I have now listened to this story. A fun spook listen.

Not a bad listen

Although not a book I would be in a rush to listen to again, I quite enjoyed it. An easy listen and interesting to hear a 'young' Bray. Had to remind myself on occasion that it was him.

A solid, spooky story

A solid story of contractors in a small town uncovering a monster hidden underneath a deserted mansion and the people who gather to fight it. The audio book featured great narration, and it made a fine Halloween story. Some creepy moments and some good action moments. The characters don't always make the smartest decisions, but they felt in character. I gather this is an early story by Joseph Nassise, but even so, I found myself caring about the characters.

Young heroes, fighting blind!

The narrator R. C. Bray was pitch perfect, as usual and the story started out great but, fizzled iut around the middle and by the end, i really wanted to stop listening
Maybe I was too much into the story because, it made know sense that, anyone should be faced with an, overwhelming, life threatening task; without having a clue as to how to carry it out. Bo clue, ir instruction whatsoever.
It seemed ridiculous and downright, stupid. I was very disappointed and I felt it had the potential to be a great story but, it fell short.
