Publisher's Summary

Twenty years ago, a terrible tragedy shattered the tranquility of the small Pennsylvania Dutch town of Reflection. The residents of the village have never forgiven the one woman they blamed for what happened - Rachel Huber. After the incident, Rachel left the town and cut off all ties there. But when Rachel receives the news that her estranged grandmother, Helen, is ill and needs her care, she returns to Reflection.

On arrival she discovers that the town has not forgotten the past, and, among the hostility and gossip, Rachel is forced to seek out old allies and new passions. Soon she finds an unlikely advocate in her grandmother, who surprises her with her wise counsel and rare strength. Rachel comes to realize that they are both trying to overcome the past, and in doing so they bring private guilt and concealed secrets into the light.

How did I ever miss this book!!

I have read Diane Chamberlin since the beginning of her career! What an excellent story Reflections is!! Diane is such a crafty story teller telling the story of Rachel who hadn't seen her Grandmother since she was a young teenager & not wanting to impose on her life when she struck by lightening! What truths they both learned about the past years sets them both free!!

A great listen!

This book was a joy to listen to - loved every moment and although there were few surprises I would highly recommend it.

If you like lifetime movies...

This is the first time that I have felt this way about a chamberlain book but I'm disappointed. The narrative was okay, however the story paced on like a slow Sunday driver, it took on vibe of a lifetime movie or even a soap opera. Certainly not my favorite just to far fetched.

Would. you just do it already...Or not whatever .

This was a really good story line and it kept me engaged. The ending wrap up was really good. The side stories where even good. However, the constant conversation between the 2 main characters had me screaming "not again. holy shit." Way too much time was devoted to should we ? no well maybe no. If you can hold on and not be annoyed by these two characters and the constant struggle (which should not have been a struggle) this is a great book.

Not my favorite Diane Chamberlain novel

I have read many Diane Chamberlain novels, and I normally love her stories, but can’t say that about this one. It was so sloooooow. Felt like I was listening to someone give me a blow by blow description of their everyday life. Kept waiting for SOMETHING big to happen, or some big plot twist, and it never came. Glad this wasn’t the first Diane Chamberlain novel I listened to, or I probably never would have tried another one. Interesting premise, but just didn’t have enough to really grab me.

Fantastic narrator - surprise ending!

Would you listen to Reflection again? Why?

I rarely listen to a book more than once, but if I did I certainly would listen to it again.

What other book might you compare Reflection to and why?

I love all of Diane Chamberlains books, so I'd listen to any of them. Liane Moriarty has a similar style and I've enjoyed the narrators on all of those books as well.

Have you listened to any of Erin Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes - I like listening to this narrator - superb!

Who was the most memorable character of Reflection and why?

Helen - the grandmother - so unassuming and strong!

Any additional comments?

If you like books by Liane Moriarty, Elin Hildebrand, and similar novels, you'll like this book a lot - just enough drama, but not corny and unrealistic.

Touching with many twists

Rarely these days do I read or listen to a story that really both surprises and moves me. Reflection is one of these stories. The characters are strong and settings are beautifully described. It's nice and long too so I didn't get the feeling at the end where I was left hanging or needing more detail. A very enjoyable listen!

OKAY!

I am a fan of DC; however, in my opinion, the best part of this book was the end. Touching, but corny and predictable. I was disappointed. My review of her others have been good. Just couldn't do it this time. She is a good novelist and I will not judge her work by this one.
