Publisher's Summary

Twenty years ago, a terrible tragedy shattered the tranquility of the small Pennsylvania Dutch town of Reflection. The residents of the village have never forgiven the one woman they blamed for what happened - Rachel Huber. After the incident, Rachel left the town and cut off all ties there. But when Rachel receives the news that her estranged grandmother, Helen, is ill and needs her care, she returns to Reflection.

On arrival she discovers that the town has not forgotten the past, and, among the hostility and gossip, Rachel is forced to seek out old allies and new passions. Soon she finds an unlikely advocate in her grandmother, who surprises her with her wise counsel and rare strength. Rachel comes to realize that they are both trying to overcome the past, and in doing so they bring private guilt and concealed secrets into the light.

How did I ever miss this book!!

I have read Diane Chamberlin since the beginning of her career! What an excellent story Reflections is!! Diane is such a crafty story teller telling the story of Rachel who hadn't seen her Grandmother since she was a young teenager & not wanting to impose on her life when she struck by lightening! What truths they both learned about the past years sets them both free!!

Would. you just do it already...Or not whatever .

This was a really good story line and it kept me engaged. The ending wrap up was really good. The side stories where even good. However, the constant conversation between the 2 main characters had me screaming "not again. holy shit." Way too much time was devoted to should we ? no well maybe no. If you can hold on and not be annoyed by these two characters and the constant struggle (which should not have been a struggle) this is a great book.

If you like lifetime movies...

This is the first time that I have felt this way about a chamberlain book but I'm disappointed. The narrative was okay, however the story paced on like a slow Sunday driver, it took on vibe of a lifetime movie or even a soap opera. Certainly not my favorite just to far fetched.

Surprise outcome

I can usually predict the plot of a book, however this book kept me in the dark until close to the conclusion. Definitely recommend.

Touching with many twists

Rarely these days do I read or listen to a story that really both surprises and moves me. Reflection is one of these stories. The characters are strong and settings are beautifully described. It's nice and long too so I didn't get the feeling at the end where I was left hanging or needing more detail. A very enjoyable listen!

Another Page Turner With Fascinating Characters!

I love the way Diane Chamberlain writes. She gives us what seems ordinary characters, but they all have extraordinary secrets and pasts. Reflection is no different.

Reflection is a town which has been in mourning since 1973 when something happened at the local elementary school which devastated a community. Rachel grew up in this small town in Pennsylvania and was shunned after the terrible incident. When she returns years later to help her sick grandmother, the town is in an uproar. How DARE she come back after what she did?

As all Chamberlain books, there's always something that lies beneath. As we meet the residents of Reflection, we learn of past secrets, forbidden love, and scandal. We fall in love with the characters. The narrator makes us feel that we live in Reflection and we are part of the story.

This is a beautiful, nostalgic story with amazing characters and wonderful prose. I highly recommend this listen!
