Publisher's Summary

Not your average romance novel!

Annie’s sick of settling for cleaning up after the messes of her hapless boyfriend, Weldon, so when she gets an inheritance she sets off for greener pastures. Now she’s confronted with her grandmother’s ghost, a manor full of dependents, a pack of hell-hounds and a gardener who might just be the man of her dreams.

Meanwhile, Angela’s convinced her brand of love could turn life around for the seedy man living down the street, if only she could get him away from the floozy living next door. But the old gods are waking up again, and she might just get the surprise of her life.

Warning: this book requires a wicked sense of humor!

Funny

It took me a while to get into the book, not knowing what to expect but it was surprisingly addictive. I actually found myself sad that the ending didn't extend itself :)

Couldn't walk away from the beginning..........

I love that this book was not at all predictable. I was listening to it while working on painting projects in my house. I shook my head in disbelief and laughed out loud by myself. I love it when that happens. I wasn't crazy about its ending, but eh, I would listen to it again and I can't say that for all of them.

As Promised

What did you love best about Redeeming Stanley?

It was true to its word. It was definitely "a savage little tale of true love, old gods, bitches, bestiality, burnout, and above all, payback."

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gramma- she was plucky, even in the afterlife, although the tale of bestiality did make me cringe inside.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Autumn Woodland?

The narrator had a pleasant voice, but throughout the piece, she seemed sometimes close and other times very far from the microphone...often within the same sentence. I'm not blaming her...but, placing fault at the sound mixer, editor, etc. It was a bit frustrating.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

"I have eaten from your hand."

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this tale, as disturbing as parts of it were. I laughed aloud several times.

Good Story, Odd Presentation

The narrator's lisp is really distracting early on. I was eventually able to ignore it. The story itself is entertaining. I enjoyed the honest characters. They were refreshing.

Good story... poor narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of Redeeming Stanley to be better than the print version?

I liked the story but could not get past the narrator's very pronounced lisp.

The Devil is in the detail

I really enjoyed this quirky story. The characters are clear and various and the story has a unique flavour. Not a romance although there is a satisfying conclusion to the several odd relationships. I found myself resenting having to turn off my ipod to do necessary things requiring my attention! Truly a sign of a good book. Highly recommended for those wanting an intriguing and enjoyable tale.
