Publisher's summary

Cassie McMahon had always dreamed of a reunion with her father, whom she hadn't seen since childhood. But her hopes were dashed when she found that his new life in California held no place for her. Then she met Alec Stevens, who was on a mission of his own - to expose the Confederate spies who threatened his country. But every plot discovered seemed to lead back to Cassie.

Not up to standard

I have listened to hundreds of Audible books and never had to give a one rating until now. When "viewed with condescention" came out "viewed with condensation" early on I listened fascinated to the worst reader I've heard. Later, mercurial became mercushial, plabean, pleebian and and a blank mask a blink mask. The author continually reminds the reader what she's trying to say. These reminders are necessary as the heroenne continually changes her mind about haw she regards her father and her lover to the point where the book must end before the confusion stops.
