Brilliant followup for the earlier collection!

This is Lydia Peever's followup to Pray Lied Eve (her earlier short story collection) and I can say with certainty that it is even better. I listened to this in once sitting (it's a short book) and it really held my imagination, as each story finished I wanted to hear "just one more". Although it's roughly the same length are the previous book, there are more stories this time and they are better in quality overall. The narrator D. Michael Hope was excellect again, just as he was in the previous book.

Better than the first

I enjoyed this book much more than the first. I don't know if it's because I got used to the narrator or the style writing but these flowed a lot more from beginning to end. There are a lot more stories here and these are a lot better. Some are pretty creepy while others are classic horror but these were all pretty good. Hopscotch Horror along with Jack and the Box were my favorite here. Weird Creepy Journey - list if you dare!

Pray Lied Eve 2, Further Tales of the Untoward written by Lydia Peever. The narration is provided by D. Michael Hope. The total running time on this collection of short horror stories is 2 hours and 2 minutes. In the second collection of the authors work the listener is treated to 6 short stories. The Ringer, Jack and the Box, Hopscotch Halloween, Midway Park, As Is, Where Is, and Widow’s Wake. There is a short section that follows from the author that tells a bit about where some of the stories came from and a bit of her writing process. As a reviewer I enjoy these little things getting to know what helped create the story.

The entire collection was a fun scary listen. Ms. Peever really seemed to take the creepy level from the last collection of stories and distill them down in size but up in potency. The last collection had 3 stories with near the same running time we now get 6 stories. The one story that really stuck with me was Jack and the Box. Jack and the Box are the authors take on exploring the madness of the carnival after dark. Jack in a 12 years boy who looks 15 at least. He goes to the carnival during the day with his older friend and they find the Freaks and Geeks tent. Jack and his friend get a special invitation to come back at night for the special show after dark. Only Jack goes to the show. At a young age seeing some things will change a young man.

The entire collection of stories in Pray Eve Lied 2 does an excellent job of holding the listener’s attention during the 6 stories. The stories all have a great ability to hold the listener attention through some of the stories going on a weird, creepy, uncomfortable journey. An example would for this listener while hearing a Widow’s Wake. These stories may not take a listener where they would think they would go but the listening journey will be interesting and worth the trip.

The narration by D. Michael Hope was again a truly enjoyable audio performance. The narrator turned in another memorable cast of characters in this production. Mr. Hope performed Ms. Peevers work with style and flourishes and gave these characters life. Each character was given unique voices that were memorable and often times horribly creepy. The production quality of this audiobook is also the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Lydia Peever Publishing delivered an excellent audiobook production.

great little collection of short horror stories

I thought this was a great follow up to the previous collection. These were all pretty well written and engaging short stories. The narration was well done and I considered this an enjoyable listen.

10 short horror stories

If these stories are any indication, Lydia Peever has a strange and sometimes sick and twisted mind. There are 10 short stories in this book. Some are gross, some are just creepy, others are weird. D. Michael Hope narrates the book. he does a pretty good job. Kept my attention.

My favorite was Chapter 5 Midway Park. Liz is at a Halloween party not drinking is people watching when she meets Finch.

She is dressed as a witch and he as a black raven. They seem to hit it off right away. They decide to leave the party and go to Midway Park and make a Jack O Lantern. That's when things get weird.
