Publisher's summary

Arson investigation is not exactly what firefighter Kate Chambers signed up for. But she doesn't have a choice when an injury forces her off the engine and into the office. Her first case, a fire at a downtown bar, is a clear-cut instance of insurance fraud, or so she thinks.

But the property co-owner and prime suspect, Alexi Clark, won't go quietly to jail for a crime she didn't commit. Soon Alexi is fighting both the false charges against her and an unexpected attraction to the investigator determined to prove them.

Amid a blaze that threatens to consume them both, Kate and Alexi redefine love and trust.

Strong, Smart, Fallible, & Vulnerable

Name the most important aspects of a partner. Many of us will come up with a description of Kate. Add driven, loyal, intense, and honest, then maybe the description would be of Alexia. Great chemistry. Great story covering tough topics.

Point, wasted a lot time getting to the point with drama.

Point in almost more soap opera, wasting time getting to the mystery of who is really setting the fires, so the two women can get around to there relationship.

offensive

is the 'African American accent' written into the book or is that just the narrators choice? Either way it's freaking offensive. Is it 2016 or 1916? I have no idea how to tell anymore.

still worth it

I really enjoy Erin Dutton's books. But, I felt this book was not finished. Sure it was tide into a little nice bow at the end. As soon as the two characters started to accept one another the book ended. I just felt there could have been a little more exploration in their relationship. It was still worth getting and listening. And Hope Newhouse did a great job narrating the book.

better than most

The voice the reader used for Jason was beyond obnoxious. Good enough story though.
