Publisher's summary

Following in the footsteps of her critically acclaimed novel If You Only Knew, best-selling author Kristan Higgins returns with a pitch-perfect look at the affection - and the acrimony - that binds sisters together.

Ainsley O'Leary is so ready to get married - she's even found the engagement ring her boyfriend has stashed away. What she doesn't anticipate is for Eric to blindside her with a tactless breakup he chronicles in a blog - which (of course) goes viral. Devastated and humiliated, Ainsley turns to her half sister, Kate, who's already struggling after the sudden loss of her new husband. Kate has always been so poised, so self-assured, but Nathan's death shatters everything she thought she knew - including her husband - and sometimes the people who step up aren't the ones you expect. With seven years and a murky blended family dynamic between them, Ainsley and Kate have never been overly close, but their shared sorrow dovetails their faltering worlds into one. Despite the lifetime of history between them, the sisters must learn to put their differences aside and open their hearts to the inevitable imperfection of family - and the possibility of one day finding love again.

I was so impressed with the narration of this book as wall as the story line. You won't waste the credit with this one.

A lovely story

Truly enjoyed listening to "On Seconx Thought" very much. Nothing disappointed. It was a lovely story with good character definition and sweet humor. The ending was perfect and the narrator was great too.

Different kind of love story

I don’t think I’ve ever written a review before but this book deserves to be listened to. The author wove love loss and the healing through unlikely family members that just brought a sigh of contentment more than once throughout the story. It’s definitely forth the credit. Oh and let’s not forget to mention the narrators. The two women who narrated this book were perfect. Their voices fit the picture the author draws of each sister to a tee.

Okay

I liked the story but the narrator for Kate was really whiney and it was hard to listen to her.

Enjoyable listen,

On Second Thought by Kristin Higgins is a story about 2 half sisters, Kate and Ainsley. At the age of 39 Kate recently married Nathan; they are desperately trying to get pregnant. Ainsley on the other hand desperately wants to marry her 11 year boyfriend Eric; she has even found the Tiffany engagement ring. But for these 2 sisters all this will change very quickly. This heartwarming story is an emotional journey about 2 sisters, once distance with each other are brought together to support each other at the end of love relationships and the beginnings of new ones.

On Second Thought is my second audio book by Ms. Higgins. Because the book was written in 2 POV there were 2 narrators; Sands Xe and Amy Rubinate, both did an excellent job.

Decent romance; poor performance

Although the conclusion to the story is predictable, it's fun getting there. I enjoyed the author's crisp writing style. The problem I had with this recording involved the reader for Kate, who always seemed to be on the verge of a hysterical manic episode. Kate's gushing, pressured speech was as irritating as chalk on a blackboard, and it seemed to be at odds with her character as written.

Didn't want to stop

Kristan Higgins has become one of my most favorite authors. Her stories are fun, funny and touching. You feel as if you are a part of the story.
This story does touch on widowhood and if you're not in a strong spot, it may be hard to listen to. I love that she goes back and forth between sisters. So just as it's getting a bit deep it moves on to Ainsley at just the right moment.

Widow warning-but great read

Im a widow so there were some very tender moments for me. Some widows may want to skip this one. I did love the characters and the story. I really did enjoy this read. I we’ll probably enjoy this one again. Mostly clean of offensive language. Sexual innuendo but not graphic which I appreciate and is getting increasingly difficult to find. Over all 5 stars from me. Usually an author uses the same phrases or words to death I didn’t find that with this book/author. Narration was also good.

Crying and Laughing

This is the second book of the sisters. So sweet, sad, funny, gut wrenching and loved the characters. Narration was great but some chapters louder than others but it was easy to fix. Don’t listen to the bad reviews, use your knowledge of Kristan Higgins’ other books.
