Publisher's summary

Their lives were perfect...

Lady Hero Batten, the beautiful sister of the Duke of Wakefield, has everything a woman could want, including the perfect fiancé. True, the Marquis of Mandeville is a trifle dull and has no sense of humor, but that doesn't bother Hero... until she meets his notorious brother.

Until they met each other...

Griffin Remmington, Lord Reading, is far from perfect - and he likes it that way. How he spends his days is a mystery, but all of London knows he engages in the worst sorts of drunken revelry at night. Hero takes an instant dislike to him, and Griffin thinks that Hero, with her charities and faultless manners, is much too impeccable for society, let alone his brother. Yet their near-constant battle of wits soon sparks desire - desire that causes their carefully constructed worlds to come tumbling down. As Hero's wedding nears, and Griffin's enemies lay plans to end their dreams forever, can two imperfect people find perfect true love?

Another credit worthy listen!

I have no idea what took me so long to get this book? I loved it! It was every bit as good as the first in the series. Elizabeth Hoyt/Ashford MacNab delivered yet another great historical romance with just the right amount of mystery, sex and a HEA ending.
If you liked the first book or enjoy this genre then I highly recommend this book. Just don't wait as long as I did to read it.

This was another credit worthy listen for me.

Not my favorite. Wish I would have skipped it.

This book was just not what I'd hoped for. The dialogue was very poorly written between the two supposedly adult main characters; He was nasty for shock value, and she sounded upper class, but always had her ankles in the air. It all just felt wrong. Wrong for the period and wrong for a romance.

I loved Hero in the first book, she was strong and decisive. But in this book she was such a victim that she wasn't the same character at all.

He seduced her over and over again and then acted like he didn't need to be involved in what happened to her after that -- and she let him get away with it. He only decided to marry her pretty late in the book, which is not what is expected in a book set in this time period, or for a lady of her station. If there is such a thing as a Regency BDSM romance novel, this is it. Without the whips and chains, of course.

It all gets tidied up at the end, which i guess is supposed to make it all romantic, but by then it's too late to be very satisfying, and I just wanted a shower.

EXCELLENT

What about Ashford MacNab’s performance did you like?

I thought she was great. She adds greatly to the pleasure of listening to the book.

Any additional comments?

I know it was a book of fiction, but I was wondering what Hero was thinking to be casually hopping in and out of bed with her fiance' s brother. The consequences could be great.
As wirh "Wicked Intentions", it was very sexy. I liked that it touched on some of the secondary characters that were in "Wicked Intentions" and will be the main charaters in the next book of this series. It was a lovely love story.

bland narrator

story line had potential but narrator had no flavour; Narrator while not the worst was just passable, she told the story in a bland manner. Had to make an effort to keep interest in order to finish the audio book.

Truly Unexpected

Best in this series so far! Although Lady Hero can be a bit overly stubborn, Griffin is depicted as a true "man", speaking his mind while doing and taking what he wants. As you listen you will want to yell at Hero to "just tell him already", but given Griffin's way of persuasion you can see why she holds out. Of course there is another glimpse of the famous, "Ghosts of St. Giles", and a much welcomed surprise and Hoyt hints to his identity.

This is a great series!

I thought the first book in this series, Wicked Intentions, was great! This book does not disappoint! It's, ah, very naughty, but I didn't think as erotic as Wicked Intentions, but still, whoa! I like the the reader. I think her voice is perfect for this genre, sort of soft and husky. I'm excited for the next book to come out in Nov. I will buy that the day it comes out! Totally worth the credit.

Another good book in the series.

This was another great book in the series. As the sex is as hot as the first book, there was quite a bit of it this time with a little less story as the first. Still a great book but would like a little more story. I hope the third book is more like the first. It was definatly worth the credits. The narrtor does an excellent job.

::shrugs shoulders::

This book was my least favorite of the Maiden Lane series. I am not sure what it was about it that didn't interest me or at least didn't keep me listening to it without wanting to skip parts or put it down for other endeavors.

I was not a huge fan of Hero, she seemed a bit perfect yet too willing to set aside that perfection for Griffin, I didn't see the attraction or feel any chemistry between them.

I didn't particularly like the side characters with the exception of Patience and Winter (who is by far one of my all time favorite heroes - he is swoon worthy.)

There was nothing out right terrible about this book other than I am not a fan of love stories that involve cheating even if the match is arranged. Maybe it was that Hero was not that engaging or I was not interested in Griffin's chosen profession and it's side story.

It has taken me several months to listen to this book, the other 3 of the series I have listened to twice at least and loved every minute of them, but this one is very easily skipped even if part of it gives insight into Patience's story.

I wouldn't waste a credit on this. The rest of the series is much better and Elizabeth Hoyt tells a good story with flawed characters.

Ashford MacNab needs to narrate more books in my opinion. She does a fantastic job.

DISAPPOINTING

This is the first book by Elizabeth Hoyt that I could not finish. I didn't like Hero and therefore didn't care what happened to her.

Like it!

This series is my first experience with Elizabeth Hoyt, and I am really enjoying it. I suggest starting with the first book in this series (Wicked Intentions) just to get an idea of all the characters, otherwise you really don't get the full flavor. Really looking forward to book 3!
