Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Story
No Longer Human (1948, Ningen Shikkaku / A Shameful Life / Confessions of a Faulty Man) was an attack on the traditions of Japan, capturing the postwar crisis of Japanese cultural identity. Framed by an epilogue and prologue, the story is told in the form three notebooks left by Ōba Yōzō, whose calm exterior hides his tormented soul. Osamu Dazai was a Japanese author who is considered one of the foremost fiction writers of 20th century Japan. A number of his most popular works, such as Shayō (The Setting Sun) and Ningen Shikkaku (No Longer Human), are considered modern-day classics in Japan.

Story
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Publisher's summary
The great Norse myths are woven into the fabric of our storytelling - from Tolkien, Alan Garner and Rosemary Sutcliff to Game of Thrones and Marvel Comics. They are also an inspiration for Neil Gaiman's own award-bedecked, best-selling fiction. Now he reaches back through time to the original source stories in a thrilling and vivid rendition of the great Norse tales. Gaiman's gods are thoroughly alive - irascible, visceral, playful and passionate - and the tales carry us from the beginning of everything to Ragnarök and the twilight of the gods. Galvanised by Gaiman's prose, Thor, Loki, Odin and Freya are irresistible forces for modern listeners, and the crackling, brilliant writing demands to be heard around an open fire on a freezing, starlit night.

The Gods, Frail, Failing and LIkeable
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It is a great and friendly way to become acquainted with the impressive mythology of a people who once adventured far and wide.
What other book might you compare Norse Mythology to and why?
Homer's Odyssey
What about Neil Gaiman’s performance did you like?
The characters he puts on the stage, although bestowed with divine powers, have all the shortcomings of mere mortals. Their petty squabbles, foolish actions, deceptions and heroic feats makes you relate to them.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Old World's Gods and their shenanigans
Neil Gaiman's narration is superb. Not to be perceived as a voice actor, he doesn't voice all the characters differently, (major characters do get their own voices) it is clear he loves telling a good story. This book, which is a collection of short stories, covers the essence of the Norse myths. Gaiman's retelling is soothing, hilarious, even harrowing when it needs to be. An easy recommendation.

Everything I love about myths, but modern and fresh too. Filled all the timeless metaphors old legends try to warn us about, but also the charm and heart that is Niel Gaiman.
