Publisher's Summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, Leylah Attar, comes a compelling, emotionally resonant new novel, set against the lush backdrop of the Serengeti.

Once in Africa, I kissed a king....

"And just like that, in an old red barn at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, I discovered the elusive magic I had only ever glimpsed between the pages of great love stories. It fluttered around me like a newborn butterfly and settled in a corner of my heart. I held my breath, afraid to exhale for fear it would slip out, never to be found again."

When a bomb explodes in a mall in East Africa, its aftershocks send two strangers on a collision course that neither one sees coming.

Jack Warden, a divorced coffee farmer in Tanzania, loses his only daughter. An ocean away, in the English countryside, Rodel Emerson loses her only sibling.

Two ordinary people, bound by a tragic afternoon, set out to achieve the extraordinary, as they make three stops to rescue three children across the vast plains of the Serengeti - children who are worth more dead than alive.

But even if they beat the odds, another challenge looms at the end of the line. Can they survive yet another loss - this time of a love that's bound to slip through their fingers, like the mists that dissipate in the light of the sun?

"Sometimes you come across a rainbow story-one that spans your heart. You might not be able to grasp it or hold on to it, but you can never be sorry for the color and magic it brought."

Mists of the Serengeti is inspired by true events and contains emotional triggers, including the death of a child.

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

This book was very different from my normal taste. I enjoyed the setting of Tanzania, Africa and I also was very interested in the humanitarian side of this story, the political violence that started this story and the unlikely love story all in one. These two are brought together because of violence and grief and they really helped each other move forward. I think my favorite thing was the ending, I love that we get a flashback from before this book started and got closure for some questions I still had. The one thing I didn't really like was the lack of descriptions. I couldn't tell you what the characters looked like nor do I have much of a vision in my head of of the setting or places they were. I also couldn't wrap my head around Jack and how he was born in Tanzania but sounded and acted completely american?? It didn't effect the story line but I just like to imagine the people and places when I listen to a book.

The narration was GREAT!! Megan Tusing was amazing, she really brought Rodel to life! Zachary Webber was great as always, he always brings so much to his characters!

Brilliant, Outstanding.

I'm at a loss for words. All I can say is brilliant, outstanding. A wonderful story of survival. I was hooked from the first page. Not only by the characters but also by the story line. Hard to listen to at some points yet so wonderful in others. Truly enjoyed it more than words can express. 5 stars by far.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

Mists of the Serengeti is mostly a low in (relationship-) angst and overall a nice pretty easygoing love story to just simply enjoy and keep reading. Of course there are some sadness, sad family losses and sudden death to start with, but it solves in its own ways. We end with dried tears, huge promising love and new chances. — Best of all; it is not a overly long, not a overly complicated or a overly steamy smexy romance book. But I got enough nice steam and heat to get the feel of a yummy romance.

Mists of the Serengeti let me with the feeling of kindhearted sweetness with two main characters and a couple of second characters to sincerely like and feel for. It also gave me some hours when I was hooked in a intriguing plot (“albino children mystery”) told with high speed suspense at times.

My summary:
• All in all a yummy good holiday read when you like me enjoy to spend time with nice heartwarming love stories.
• This 12 hours audiobook is very well narrated by Zachary Webber and Megan Tusing.
• Recommended for old fashion romantic girls and ladies ... actually all kind of fans of contemporary romances.

Moving, and heart reaching

This was a real gripping story of beauty and horror. A place we're children are sacrificed in brutal ways. In the mist of loss a love is found. It's an unexpected journey of love for family. I cried and laughed. You must listen to this story.

WOW, just WOW

This is the book that you search for don't want it to end. Romance, suspense, tragedy, action, incredible location for the story, and maybe one of best epilogues I have ever heard, and add in great narration. Pay attention in the early chapters and the story will all come together and make sense. Why can't all audiobooks be this good?
