Publisher's summary

Maikro collects 112 haiku and 47 works of micro-fiction, most falling in the speculative fiction realm (science fiction, fantasy, horror) with a few literary pieces tossed into the mix:

slick sea stones glimmer

golden leviathan sinks

night soars on gulls' wings

wise elder wordsmyth

telling tales of earth that was

blue skies in our minds

Fallen Angel:

Leathery wings tangled, she falls from heaven's love-making, crashes to Times Square. Rises from the crater. Smiles at the morning after.

Nuggets To Be Savored

Milo's "Maikros"--a blend of horror, strange ideas, fantasy and beauty in varying proportions in both Haiku and Micro/Flash Fiction styles. One should only listen to a few at a time, to savor them. I was so fortunate as to receive an AUDIO copy and enjoyed crisp narration with a delightful British accent (only fair as the author is from the UK) lovingly sharing the delightful, the devious and the devilish poetry and prose proffered by an intricate mind.

Powerful

Maikro: Haiku & Microfiction is a beautifully written book that is filled with powerful Haiku's to horror but all speak some sentiment of the truth. I must admit that this book spoke to me with more than words it reached deep within. I absolutely enjoyed each Haiku and Microfiction because even one line spoke volumes. Sarah Jones did a stellar job narrating her voice was absolutely amazing. I am voluntarily leaving my honest unbiased review of this book because it is a true must read/listen.

Short but intense

You'll want to slow down the rate of listening to catch every word. Haikus a-plenty with short stories galore. Enjoy!

poetry collection meets fiction anthology

Maikro by Milo James Fowler is a collection of micro fiction. Fiction that tells a story In less than 100 words.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this anthology. But I took a shot and I'm glad I did. It was a fun break from a normal narrative but was still easier to digest than philosophical poetry.

Sarah Jones reads with a beautiful voice.

Lovely collection of haikus and micro stories, with an okay performance

The collection of haikus and microfiction is pretty lovely - it spans a variety of moods, genres and subjects and you’ll easily daydream along.

The narration/production is not for me - first of all, there are a lot of mouth noises. If you like ASMR you’d enjoy this.
Secondly, some of the haikus seem patched together with very inconsistent production quality switching within seconds (lots of white noise, little white noise, varying volume, harsh s sounds, obviously softened s sounds - all in all inconsistent even within a single chapter).

As for the performance, I miss the connection to the content and its meaning. It feels just read. Especially the haikus all sound pretty much alike in melody - the narrator’s voice is lovely and ethereal, yes, but doesn’t convey any mood beyond etherealness. Happy/sad/curious/insightful/… - not sure.

Now, if you enjoy a short audio with bits of poetry and a very ethereal, almost dream like voice (and some ASMR) - this is for you.
I like the content a lot though, so I’ll get the ebook :)

Too Short! Too few! Too soon it ends..want more!

Too short...Too Few...it ends too soon...Now we don't want the sane sobering glass of warm milk and P&J sandwiches offered for lunch. No, we want to get drunk on exotic giddy dark that's runs through the veins of your poems!
