Publisher's summary

Love & Murder, a bargain-priced bundle of stories by New York Times best-selling author Lorraine Bartlett (and her alter ego L.L. Bartlett) explores the highs and lows of love and humanity. Each free-standing, complete story explores a different theme representative of the author's style. The collection contains:

"Cold Case": Psychic Jeff Resnick has no expectations when investigating the disappearance of a four-year-old boy, until he confronts the mind responsible.

"An Unconditional Love": A single mom of a special-needs child learns about sacrifice and the true meaning of love.

"We're So Sorry, Uncle Albert": Can a family get away with the murder of their rich uncle?

"Love Heals": A lonely nurse longs for love on the most romantic night of the year.

"Abused": A daughter's story chronicles a young girl's shattered childhood.

"Prisoner of Love": The personals may not be the best place to find your true love.

"Blue Christmas": The holidays can be the loneliest time of the year, but will the magic of the season make this the last blue Christmas for Judi Straub?

Love & Murder Steals the Show

If you could sum up Love & Murder in three words, what would they be?

Engaging! Romantic! Delightful!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love & Murder?

The most memorable moment in "Love & Murder" came in the final story "Blue Christmas." There was a very romantic nod to one of my favorite Cary Grant films "An Affair to Remember." I loved the little twist, and showing up a few annoying characters with a happy ending was a relief.

What does Anna Riley and Steven Barnett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Both narrators had very pleasing voices, and the few stories using both narrators was like listening to a play.

If you could take any character from Love & Murder out to dinner, who would it be and why?

"Hey, Jeff, would you like to go to dinner?" Jeff Resnick seems a truly kind character who only wishes to help people despite the serious physical toll it takes on him. Psychic abilities are fascinating, and being able to ask questions about his process and hear stories about his adventures would be interesting.

Any additional comments?

This audio version of Loraine Bartlett’s “Love & Murder” has seven short stories using the talents of narrators Anna Reilly and Steven Barnett with a few of the stories actually using both narrators adding to the enjoyment. Five stories ranged from 15-27 minutes, and two stories were a little over an hour each. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Although “Abused: A Daughter’s Story” was all too realistic, I really enjoyed the ironic twist to “We’re So Sorry, Uncle Albert.” In “Cold Case” the story was engaging, and having been the inspiration to “Bound by Suggestion” book 5 of the Jeff Resnick series, I have to check out the extended version. Several stories like “An Unconditional Love,” “Love Heals,” “Prisoner of Love,” and “Blue Christmas” were satisfying romantic adventures.

Because these are short stories, I like the main character in each story! They're all good in their unique way.

What about Anna Riley and Steven Barnett ’s performance did you like?

Steven Barnett - I love his performances in all of the books I've listened to. Anna Riley is very good, too - this is the first time I've listened to her, and I like her.
