Publisher's Summary

One boy, one boat, one tiger....

British comedian, actor and broadcaster Sanjeev Bhaskar, OBE performs this brilliant edition of a work of fiction that is loved by fans around the world. After the tragic sinking of a cargo ship, a solitary lifeboat remains bobbing on the wild, blue Pacific. The only survivors from the wreck are a 16 year-old boy named Pi, a hyena, a zebra (with a broken leg), a female orangutan - and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. The scene is set for an extraordinary adventure.

Critic Reviews

"A unique and original story, brilliantly told." (Guardian)
"Pi is bewitching, the tale both nihilistic and naïve, philosophical and playful, deeply moving while always treading the line clear of schmalz." (Independent)
"Every page offers something of tension, humanity, surprise, or even ecstasy." (The Times)

Now one of my favourite books. Extrodinarily original story, beautifully creative and moving. Exceptionally narrated.
Thank you

Loved it

I thought the book was excellent and the performance perfect. Highly recommend. My only negative is that it takes a little getting in to. But once you’ve got past the first few chapters it’s perfect

Superb production of superb book

A beautifully read delight which left me thinking deeply. Not sure if I'd have finished it in print there are some difficult bits (the Island is just weird) but as an audio book... superb.

Liked the film more

My god, this drones on and on and on and on 100 chapters. Love Sanjeev Bhaskar but I definitely preferred the film.

Wonderful

I loved the book. It’s so much deeper than the movie. It is a mentally stimulating book.

Well read. Very different from the film. So intere

interesting even though I have seen the film. Major elements are the same of course, but much much more detail and additional subject matter.

Very articulate and eloquent story teller.

Sanjeev was able to mimic the thick accent of diverse native speakers, from the Indians to the Japanese. He was such an animated figure that the whole story was injected with life and energy. He is clearly an outstanding story teller. His eloquence and humour made me listen with rapt attention.

However, the denouement of the saga was a little letdown. We had been told initially that the account of Pi would make people believe in that God does exist. But I couldn't see any element of God playing any part in the story. Disappointing.

Finally a Narrator worth listening to.

I've wanted to listen to this book ever since the movie came out as the books are always better. But previously the only option was not someone I could listen to for an entire book. Thank you for finally making this happen. While watching the film I was hoping maybe someone like Irrfan Khan would narrate it one day
Enter Sanjeev Bhaskar like a breath of fresh air. What a huge difference he makes, delivering all the dialogue with beautiful accents for each character. Great books deserve great narrators.

If you ever wanted to listen to this but were put off by the previous narrator then listen to it now. It took me less than 2 days to get through this book as I couldn't stop, I just wanted to listen for one more chapter.

A long drawn out story

Great narration but struggled to finish the book as the story itself was over descriptive. For a third of the book it was hard to determine what the book was about.
