Publisher's summary

Garrison Keillor is the consummate storyteller, gifted with the rare ability, both in print and in performance, to hold an audience spellbound with his tales of ordinary people whose lives contain extraordinary moments of humor, tenderness, and grace. This exclusive recording of Garrison Keillor reading a carefully edited abridgement of the book also includes a few segments taken from live performances recorded during a fundraising tour for public radio stations in 1985.

A great shot of Garrison Keillor...

I loved this book when I first read it years ago, I love listening to Keillor's voice on the radio, and this is the perfect combo. This was a great way to lighten my day to and from work.

Very enjoyable

I have so say, I amost didn't make it past the first chapter -- Man, it is slow. Once I got past it, I loved pretty much everything after it. Garrison Keillor reads it like a champ. I have listened to it many times, and still laugh at the residents of Lake Wobegon. If you can get past the first chapter, I think you will like this book, too.

Great Material - Flat delivery

If you love the radio show as I do, you will come to realize how much the response of the audience adds to GK's stories. This title would be more enjoyable as a printed book, but left me flat as an audio title.

So disappointed this was not the entire book!

Love the author’s rambling, small town stories. After reading, bought this audible book to share with my husband and on a road trip. Sadly, the funniest stories/chapters from the book were omitted with no reference that it was not the book in its entirety.

Great American literature

Garrison Keillor is one of my all time favorite American Authors. Lake Wobegon Days is an absolute classic.

It’s a novel that is not based on some huge event that threatens the world, or anything like that. It’s about life in a simple town. It’s about the trials and tribulations we go through in life.

The secret to this being such a great piece of work is Keillor’s ability to write in a captivating manner. His humor is subtle and is well balanced.

On top of that, we get to hear the great story teller himself read his own book. I can’t imagine it being read by anyone else.

Overall, I have nothing but praise for this book and Garrison Keillor. I highly recommend it.

Keillor the storyteller at his best.

This is Keillor's classic best. His telling humor reveals the odd things most of have witnessed or done in some form or fashion. He speaks to the religious in their doubts and their folly. He apeaks to the patriotic in theirs.

I enjoy Garrison Keillor

If you could sum up Lake Wobegon Days in three words, what would they be?

Funny, interesting, unusual

Which scene was your favorite?

Scaring the young boys about digging up a casket.

Any additional comments?

It was enjoyable but I had higher expectations from listening to Garrison Keillor over the years.
