Publisher's summary

Missionary kid Kennedy’s second year of college is filled with even more suspense, danger, and excitement than the first.

Back on campus at Harvard University, Kennedy finds herself enmeshed in a murder investigation when the son of a conservative politician comes out as gay. Tensions fly even higher when Kennedy hops on a plane bound to Alaska for Christmas break - a plane that might never reach its destination. And just when she’s ready for a respite from all the terror and trauma, she’s trapped in the middle of a hospital lockdown during a global epidemic.

Through it all, Kennedy learns to cling to her faith in God and let go of some of her previously held notions about what it means to be a fruit-bearing Christian in contemporary society.

The Kennedy Stern Christian suspense series tackles controversial issues facing the church today and brings them to light in a way that encourages questions and fosters discussions, without ever turning preachy or heavy-handed. Find out why fans from all denominations, all walks of life, and all sides of the political spectrum are devouring this thought-provoking series from edgy Christian fiction author Alana Terry, who has won awards from Women of Faith, Grace Awards, The Book Club Network, Readers’ Favorite, and many others.

enjoyed!

I loved the narrator's voice. Book 4 posed some interesting questions. I identified with Kennedy in her desire to share God but reluctance due to her insecurities that she could share Jesus in a meaningful way.

Reader needs to change it up

I really enjoyed the stories, and all of the references to God and faith, but the lady who reads it needs some work. Seems she does everything in the same four word sentence structure over and over and over. I got to the point where I could predict her pattern. It would be better if she could sting together longer sentences at a time. Rather than four or five words each, all ending on an up note. Just my thoughts.

Good if you like to think through issues biblically

Didn’t oversimplifying issues.
Didn’t villainize people who don’t agree.
Didn’t just preach.
Mercy, grace, and truth are all woven together.
Valid issues and points are in each book.
I love hearing these issues discussed in fiction.
Thought I should add after I saw that it says “reviewed by Thomas”...
-reviewed by Aleta (on my husband’s account;)

One person - way too much happens

Seriously, within just a couple of years, WAY too much happens to just one person. Think of something you wouldn't want to experience - it happens to Kennedy. And she's just too whiny for me. Had the experiences been dolled out to different characters, I might have actually enjoyed it. Yes, I bought the series, more to see if they got better - nope. I will say, yes, this series is clean, not too much "in your face" Christian, but to just one person... come on.

Really?

One college girl with a major physical, social, emotional, moral or terrorist crisis every semester. Unrealistic.

Where's the suspense?

I didnt like the story matter and the reader read fast and abruptly. She stopped and started too much. She was hard to listen to.

Seemed biased with horrible narration

I only got through the first half dozen chapters so I don't know if it changed, but I found it quite biased. The Christians who were against homosexuality were portrayed in an unflattering light, whereas the main pro-gay Christian was the good, compassionate, caring one. Again, I didn't listen past the part of the Christian homeschool so maybe both sides ended up being portrayed fairly by the end. I hope so, and I might have tried to listen all the way but the narrator was horrible, putting a period after every 4-5 words, chapter after chapter. It just wasn't worth it. I had to return it.
