Publisher's summary

Army officer Keith Foster has everything a man could possibly want - a successful career, two adorable sons, and a strong marriage. All that changes when he finds himself in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound. His request to go home to his family is proving impossible. According to the doctor, the shooting not only shattered Keith's body, but it caused him to forget the past seven years of his life. He's divorced now, his little boys are teenagers, and his wife is dating another man! Keith vows to win back his family and discover the secret that tore them apart in the first place.

Meanwhile, Jillian Foster has been trying to forget Keith and their turbulent past. After the shooting, she can't help but feel obligated to help the father of her children recover his memory and restore his health. She's just not sure what exactly that obligation entails. From the author of A Mother's Choice and Anna's Courage comes the second book in the Rose Island series. Full of hope, faith, and family, Jillian's Promise is the heartwarming story about second chances and redemption.

Beautiful story!

What a beautiful story that covers so many real aspects of life, love, heartbreak, and reconciliation. Marriage and parenting isn't always easy. The stories of these families show how important communication and forgiveness are.

A Memory Lost

Keith and Jillian were happily married with two small children and one on the way. He was going on his next tour over seas. When he awoke, he was in the hospital asking for his wife. His ex wife came with their two teenagers they now share custody of. With his memories gone, the past seven years gone too.

Keith tries to remember what happened to his happy life, as he tries to recover memories, while his ex wife has moved on, and is now dating someone else.

The story was very enjoyable. I didn't want it to end. The beginning was very shocking to me, and I loved it right from the beginning. I recommend this book to everyone looking for a good romantic story.

Kristin Noel Fischer writes a beautiful story that is heart wrenching with a happy ending. She writes so well, I
I was so involved in the story, I didn't want to put it down.

Rebecca Rush's narration was very clear and very soothing. I especially loved the voice of Avery. Great energy and great narration.

it's time to pick-up this book

was gifted this audio ARC from the author for a honest and unbiased review
This is a very Christian book and to some can be taken as preachy. Now saying that the characters and their daily life problems came across as real.
Fischer did a great job showing how PTSD, alcoholism, frequent deployments, and moves affected the military families . The way Jill and Keith dealt with their problems were real.
Rebecca Rush did a fine job of reading the book.
I found this to be a easy listen. If you enjoy spiritual writing you will enjoy this audio book.

Getting a second chance at life!

Keith wakes up from an accident and learns he has lost the last 7 years of memories. He also learns that A LOT has happend in those 7 years. He has divorced his wife, lost a brother-in-law to the war and become the man that he promised himself he would never become. Lucky for him Jillian, his ex-wife, is still in love with the man she married and is willing to give him a second chance.
Great story that kept me listening to the end. Characters were believable and the narrator did a fabulous job.

Another Great Christian Fictional Romance

I enjoyed the first book in the "Rose Island" series and this second book does not disappoint! This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone as well.

The narrator did an outstanding job bringing the story to life and differentiating between characters voices! I loved her voices.

This book is written by a Christian author so there are dialogues about God and prayer. It is very uplifting and inspirational. The story deals with PTSD, divorce, amnesia, loss, and love. The story has depth and caught my attention from the beginning. There are two separate stories going on at once and they intertwine at the end.

I'm looking forward to the next book by this talented author & narrator.

Romantic and beautiful

Any additional comments?

The story deals with PTSD, divorce, amnesia, loss, love, redemption and forgiveness. It is written by a Christian author so in its dialogues/monologues the true power of God frequently is mentioned. A great love story, also a great multi character plot with their everyday problems and how difficult is dealing with them until true love and hope conquers all.Excellent narration and a really wonderful book.

Touching story of second chances

Imagine reluctantly getting a divorce from the love of your life. Then imagine due to an injury your ex has amnesia and has blocked out the last seven years. Seven years in which you've started dating someone new and your children have become teenagers. He's woken up still madly in love with you. Do you take a second chance on love, or do you hold on to past hurts?

I've never read an amnesia-themed book, but I can say that any amnesia-themed romance I read in the future will be held up against Jillian's Promise. This book was realistic as well as heart warming, and showed how God can help people turn their lives around when things seem impossible.

The narration is in first person, alternating between the point of view of Jillian, her ex-husband Keith, and another woman. Keith's love for his ex-wife reminds me of my dad's love for my mom, strong and enduring. It's the kind of love from Nicolas Sparks' The Notebook, or the love between Evelyn and Rafe in Pearl Harbor. The reader is in suspense for much of the book: what caused the issues that led to Keith and Jillian's divorce? How could two people so in love throw it all away?

Jillian remembers why they divorced even if he does not. She has no plans to reconcile. However, during the time Keith recuperates from his injuries, Jillian fondly remembers the good times they had as a family. She sees in Keith the man she once loved as he begins spending time with her and their sons. Can she trust him?

There's also a great side story that I liked almost as much as the main story, a story of redemption and forgiveness. It involves a war reporter named Lila who has a daughter with Down Syndrome. Although I've met children with Down Syndrome, I can't say with any authority that Kristen Noel Fischer accurately portrayed this character. However, I can say that the child is portrayed respectfully, and the narrator, Rebecca Rush, did an outstanding job with the little girl's voice.

Rebecca Rush also did a great job with Jillian's sisters and parents and made Keith sound like an attractive man.

I highly recommend this book to fans of Christian romance or military romance and to anyone who enjoys a great love story. It's a clean read.

Such an Incredible Emotional Story!

Rebecca Rush did an Incredible job reading the story to me from the audio book. She deserves plenty of praise, the emotional feelings came through wonderfully and made me feel like I was watching everything play out.

The story itself was amazing, incredible, tender hearted and so emotional. Keith suffered so deeply because of the secret behind his brother-in-law's death while in the service.

Jillian suffered not only losing her brother but her unborn daughter as well as the love of her life. Her son's Markas and Drew lost precious time with their father.

What really happened? Who was responsible for the death oh Jillian's brother? What part did Lila play in this tragic event?

The best way to find out is to get the audio book and let Rebecca read it to you, or get the book and read it for yourself. Either way I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

My heart broke for all who were affected by this tragedy. It shows that people with money, power and positions think they can get away with anything. But really can they? Excellent Story!

Love, marriage, second chances and making it right

Would you consider the audio edition of Jillian's Promise to be better than the print version?

Audio books are always better because you can do chores, clean out the garage or drive while listening. This was an excellent Christian fictional story about second chances and God's loving care. The characters are likable and realistic. The story is grounded in real details and struggle that keep it from becoming corny or trite. It is a well-written hopeful story. Definitely worth listening to especially if you are struggling in your marriage or struggling with addiction.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lily, the six year old Down's syndrome child, is my favorite character. She is kind, loving, and has an enthusiasm for life. She is completely devoted to her father. Both Lilia and Jillian are strong yet vulnerable main characters. Lilian is willing to give up her career to care for her Down's Syndrome daughter. Jillian is willing to allow her husband to homeschool their son while keeping her nursing job. Both display different pictures of feminine strength and faith.

Have you listened to any of Rebecca Rush’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but she did an excellent job. The personality of each character came out in her voice. She created unique characters and maintained their voice flawlessly throughout the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It is too long to listen to in one setting. It took me four days and I looked forward to every installment.
