Publisher's summary

Tamara Collins is poised to become the next great American actress. The only problem is that Hollywood doesn't know it yet. Since her bills aren't paying themselves though, Tamara decides to sign on to star in the new stage play, It Should've Been Me. Tamara wants to just get in, get out, and get paid, but her co-stars - including Donovan Dobbs, her ex that left her at the altar, and Camille Woods, a young starlet with a serious grudge - could make this the worst decision Tamara's ever made.

Gwen Tanner Weinstein, playwright and producer, has decided that if her neglectful husband can't give her love, she'll take his money - and use it to make her stage-play dreams come true. She's put together an amazing cast and sold out shows across the country, so she's ready to take her rightful reign as one of the top play producers in the country. The only problem is that she needs to keep the drama contained to the stage - and that sexy young merchandising guy out of her bed....

Part 2?

The book abruptly ended... Many loose ends left undone. This left me having a multitude of questions.

Cliff hanger

I did enjoy the story but I feel it was a cliffhanger. Is there a book 2. Now that she (tamara) found out the truth what is she going to do with it!

Enjoyable

Overall, I enjoyed the book. The storyline was unique and unpredictable, there were no extraneous characters, and the characters were imperfect and therefore relatable. Also, unlike many fiction books nowadays, there was no profanity and no graphic sex scenes. The thing I liked least about the audiobook is that there were a few brief pockets of boredom primarily due to one character's boring personality. I would recommend this book to someone who enjoys, light, clean, fun, fiction with nuggets of wisdom.

I Expected More

I love everything written by these women, but with this novel, I really expected more. The narration was poor and the ending kind of left me hanging. It seems like it was open ended for a sequel. I hope so!!

Girlfriend

Girlfriend was rough, but in the end she was blessed. Hopefully that won’t be taken for granted. Women speak on these things but somewhere it’s actually happening. I’m in agreement with the other listeners, we need a part 2

No!

Disappointed is an understatement! I expected so much more from her! I can't say this book was completely horrible but it seemed to drag on! It didn't start to become interesting until the end and then it ENDED! Cliffhanger!!! Ugh! I don't know if I would consider getting book two because how this one proceeded NOT INTERESTED!! The narrator was okay!

Blah

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this book because it took too long to get to it's destination and when you arrived you realized it wasn't worth your while.

If you’ve listened to books by ReShonda Tate Billingsley before, how does this one compare?

I am actually a fan of ReShonda's books but this is by far my least favorite of them all.

What three words best describe Mia Ellis’s voice?

Soft, one note, not interesting

Did It Should've Been Me inspire you to do anything?

It was hard finishing this book because it was very predictable.

Any additional comments?

This book took too long to get to the point. It only got interesting towards the end and then in the end you wanted to know what happened next but you already kind of know. It was very one note, kind of boring and if what happened at the end happen in the middle of the story then it may have been better. Not their best work.
