Publisher's Summary

It's Dan Calebow's worst nightmare: Phoebe Somerville, a trendy New York knockout, inherits the Chicago Stars, the football team he coaches. And she wants to help him run it. Phoebe's sure he needs her. He's a sexist good-ol'-boy jock with a one-track mind. Surely she can straighten him out....So why should each find the other attractive? Call it the competitive urge, but these two stubborn people play the game for keeps.

"Brett Farve like hero without his charisma"

This book is very dated. Good for women who don't understand football or are casual football fans. Back in the 90's football was not marketed heavily to women. Nice to see a book that was about real NFL teams, rules and players. Is the author from chicago, cause she seemed to know an awful lot about the streets, roads and suburbs. Got a kick out of that part cause I have family in Naperville. But otherwise, I thought this was too long. Could have been shorter or a category romance. Saw this on a list tied with Outlander as the best Romance novels ever. Not even in the same league. Typical genre romance. I probably would spend my credit elsewhere. I never really built a relationship with the main characters. The hero seems like a rip off of Brett Farve, down to the "working man's quarterback, the Southern college he went to and the dark blonde hair. Hmm...

    "Big Fan"

I am a big fan of SEP, this is a great book. Anna Fields is a great narrator. She will be missed. She makes this book even better.

    "Delightful!"

SEP does it again...This is a wonderful romantic, charming romance and it is laugh out loud funny! The chaos at Bert's funeral is a hysterically funny scenario that paints a picture to set the tone for the entire book. SEP describes these characters so realistically that you would swear you knew them personally. Love the Chicago Stars series and their romances. I've listened to all of them at least 3 times. Read this one before THIS HEART OF MINE as it explains the relationship between Phoebe and Molly. Highly recommended for a fun listen. This is Phoebe and Dan's story, and it is wonderful!

    "Loved it!"

SEP is one of the few authors that continues to make me laugh. That is so rare! I love Dan and the narrator does such a good job. Can't wait for SEP to write more great books.

    "Pretty Good"

Not bad but not her best. I had read the books out of order so it was fun to see how things came together for this family. I still love her work and think the narrator is fabulous.

    "Enjoyable Read"

I really enjoyed this read. I typically read historical, but a contemporary was a nice change of pace. There was a scene in the beginning with Dan's ex-wife that was very unnecessary. I didn't like that. Other than that, I liked it and actually laughed out loud at times. At first I didn't care for the narrator, she was a bit boring at first. Then I grew to not pay attention to that. Good book overall.

    "Sharp and Funny"

I loved this book! I recently listed to Match Me by SEP and decided I just had to go back to the beginning of the series. If you can help it, try not to listen to any other ones in the series first. Since I started with a later book I knew the ending was going to be favorable. Despite that SEP kept me guessing on how she would take me to the end.

The character development was wonderful and the first disaster was great. I found myself trying not to tinkle my pants from laughing so hard at some of the banter between Phoebe and Dan. Great listen; can't wait to check out the others in this series.
