Publisher's Summary

Mary B. Morrison, acclaimed New York Times best-selling author of Darius Jones and The Eternal Engagement, proves herself a masterful storyteller with this gripping new novel about an obsessed man and what he will do to make sure he gets the woman he wants.

Madison Tyler thought a man like Granville Washington could fulfill her sexual desires and her need for occasional male companionship. And as the owner of a multimillion-dollar multimedia firm, that’s as much as Madison wants or needs right now.

Granville is desperate to hold on to Madison. The harder she tries to end contact with him, the harder he fights to stay connected to her. She’s captured his heart, and he’ll do whatever is necessary not to let her break it. He knows she doesn’t love him the way he loves her - she’s repeatedly said so - but if she takes time to get to know the man behind the muscles, he’s convinced she’ll agree that they’re perfect for each other. And he’ll do whatever it takes to make her see that.

Mary B. Morrison has joined the ranks of African American women writing about what women of any ethnic group want to read about: how to find - and keep - your soul mate. Her writing style is both excellent and very erotic. She lives in Oakland with her son.

Story of a stalker

When I read the book review I wasn't at all interested in the story line it sounded a little boring but I decided to give it a chance anyway. I am in actually glad I had purchased this audiobook because it's nothing like I expected it to be the review doesn't give the book any type of justice. Granville was a fool with the lengths he was willing to go to have the woman that he set his sights on. My favorite character was Loretta and probably because she was the one I can relate to when it comes to being a single mother. The ending had me at the edge of my seat in shock because I am still amazed that the situation led to the end result. I cant wait to read the next book to see what Miss Southern Bell will do next. The main theme to this book should be, what you do in the dark always comes to the light. The Narrators were fantastic and brought the book to life and built the characters into the people you will learn to love or hate. Good book

Twisted ****Good*****Gone Get it!!!!!! ✿◕‿◕✿

Dude a little crazy (Granville), okaaay a lot crazy. No one can be that dumb, I pray. The book was good because, although you anticipate a few things, because they are twisted, they are not as predictable as you expect. Well written and full of drama. I was on the edge of my seat. Talk about captivated. The story of a stalker.

Would not purchase again...

What would have made If I Can’t Have You better?

A better storyline maybe...

I have read material from this author before and found her to be somewhat inconsistent. I made the purchase because I noticed both a male and female narrator and who knows... maybe this book would be one of the good ones from the author. I was let down. The performance was quite choppy with a lot of ill-timed pauses. In all fairness though, I'm not sure if better narration would have helped improve the story; which was lack-luster at best. The main characters were aggravating and I almost did not care what happened to them in the end. Of course, I'm one of those individuals with a dogged determination to finish any book I purchase so I got through it. Buyer beware.

Has If I Can’t Have You turned you off from other books in this genre?

It has not turned me off from the genre but I will not purchase again from this author.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from If I Can’t Have You?

The book was just too much... too many misunderstandings, too many poor decisions, too many assumptions. The book just never seemed to land and there was never really a character to care about.

Definitely Not A Favorite

I didn't like this book at all. It just seemed ridiculous to me. Cary Hite and Nicole Small are two of my favorite narrators but I didn't like them in this book. Alot of long pauses occurred during Cary's reading when he and Nicole were reading and/or interacting. I'm still trying to finish the book. The part where Madison gave the detailed description of her vagina was ridiculous. I found myself fast forwarding this book throughout. I wish I could get a refund on the book but of course I can't. Granville's craziness is the only thing that made the book interesting. I have over 120 books and I'd rank this one at the bottom like 118.

NOT BAD, BUT DEFINITELY NOT GREAT

What did you like best about If I Can’t Have You? What did you like least?

I'm not sure what I liked best. I didn't like another books with best friends for life that can't seem to get along and that they simply don't like each other. Madison is probably like more people than we think, but no redeeming qualities whatsoever and her Dad was even worse.

If you’ve listened to books by Mary B. Morrison before, how does this one compare?

I haven't and don't plan to listen to another one.

What didn’t you like about Nicole Small and Cary Hite ’s performance?

I did not like Nicole's version of a southern girl, specifically Madison's voice. I live in TN and I've heard different southern accents based on the region of our state, but they this was horrible.

Do you think If I Can’t Have You needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It does have a follow up, but I didn't know it. This book was long enough and had enough in it that it should have ended with this book. This was enough.

Any additional comments?

This book was the worse I've listened to yet, but I enjoyed it enough to listen to the next book.

ok i m going to hold out

What did you like best about If I Can’t Have You? What did you like least?

it really was a good book kind of surprised it had a lot going on to keep you in it.crazy dude made the story. I didnt like how it ended, she should have just wrapped it up i mean if it was told to me that there is a part two, to this story i would have waited to read the book because i hate cliff hangers.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

the ending, I wish she would have wrapped it up.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

so many pause's in the book

Do you think If I Can’t Have You needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

it better have a follow up book i mean how you gonna leave the book with him on life support, and none of the issues resolved at all, plus it said that there will be one.

Any additional comments?

i would wait till part 2 to come out because you will be mad at the ending so just wait till part 2 to get here.

You will really enjoy this audiobook!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this audiobook because the characters are well developed and the storyline is beast!

What was one of the most memorable moments of If I Can’t Have You?

The most memorable moment was when one of the main characters got the surprise of her life after making a bet.

Which character – as performed by Nicole Small and Cary Hite – was your favorite?

It is hard to pick just one. All of the characters were equally good.

If you could take any character from If I Can’t Have You out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I wish I could take them all to dinner, even the crazy ones!

Any additional comments?

Great author! Highly recommend this book to all!
