Publisher's summary

Nadia Conrad has big dreams, and she's determined to make them come true. But between maintaining her college scholarship and working at the local day care to support herself, dating's the last thing on her mind. Then she moves into a new apartment and meets the taciturn yet irresistible guy in 1B. Daniel Tyler has grown up too fast. Becoming a single dad at 20 turned his life upside down - and brought him heartache he can't risk again. Now, as he raises his four-year-old son while balancing a full-time construction management job and night classes, the last thing he wants is noisy students living in the apartment upstairs. But one night, Nadia's and Ty's paths cross, and soon they can't stay away from each other. The timing is all wrong - but love happens when it happens. And you can't know what you truly need until you stand to lose it.

Experiencing romance and real college life

I enjoyed the bits of realism of college life that "interfered" with having a love life in the way it's portrayed in other romance novels. Usually when the setting is college, you never hear a reference of the main characters picking up a book and studying for tests, while being star students or having scholarships. I really liked the start of this series.

Love story between a dad and a driven student

I loved their book because it had well devolved characters. The. two main characters didn't just fall in love an in bed easily because there was a child involved.. The dad in the book put his kid first, but surprisingly it was he who had a lot of baggage to work though. it's a fast pace funny read! The roommates are funny an very supportive. This find was very much worth my credit!

Sweet (and Steamy) New Adult Romance

The story is told from college junior Nadia’s POV as she navigates through her life going to college while maintaining her scholarship, working at a daycare and socializing with her roommates in apartment 2B. While she and her roommates are moving into their new apartment they meet their neighbor Ty, they later find out is a single dad who is working full time while putting himself through college and the connection between Nadia and is instant. While he is stand-offish it only intrigues Nadia and they become friends and then more.

I loved the progression of the relationship between Ty and Nadia. They both have things going on in their lives but are able to carve out little interludes of time to get to know each other and bond. It makes all of their interactions that much sweeter and builds anticipation. It takes a while for them to get together and when they finally do the scenes are electric.

Ty’s son Sam stole every scene he was in! He was such a cute kid, I loved the interactions between him and Nadia and as well as his observations and inquisitiveness. I loved all of the dinosaur jokes. And him and his stuffed animal Mr. O’Beary...oh boy.

Overall, this is a nice easy listen. Bailey Carr did a good job with narration, I felt some of her inflections could have landed a bit differently (but I read the book first, so I had my own idea of how things sounded) but I don’t think it took away for the overall experience. I got this book as part of the Romance Package, so I didn’t have to use any credits. But I did have it in my wish list for a while and I’m glad I finally got to listen to it. If you have the Romance Package or are looking for a nice listen this is a great book to spend the day with!
