Publisher's summary

In 1828, few white men had seen the Rocky Mountains, those that had were the rugged few we call Mountain Men. Zach Connors was one of the best, known to the Indians as Grizzly Killer. He was both feared and respected throughout the Rockyies. Along with his dog, Jimbo, Running Wolf, his Ute partner, and their wives, they travel to Rendezvous, where they battle the dreaded Blackfeet and Zach fights for both justice and honor. After, they come face to face with a man eating grizzly, and confront those seeking revenge for the justice he dealt. All the while living their lives among the towering peaks in the wild and unforgiving wilderness of the spectacular Rocky Mountains.

A gripping mountainman tale

This is the continuation of the Grizzly Killer tale set at the time of western- or Rocky Mountains furtrade. Well written and entertaining, full of lively descriptions and still somehow also keeping a diary style matteroffactness. All characters, both Indian and trappers are interesting to follow. My only regard is the changing of narrator from book one - it's harder to get used to a new voice and pronaunciation of words one was accustomed to hear differently in book one. Apart from that - cool book.

Story good, narrator not so much.

The story was good but the narrator speaks too fast to be considered a relaxing audiobook. Almost sounds automated. I much preferred the narrator from the 1st Grizzly Killer. His voice is not well suited to a trapper/western type novel.

Don't judge this series by the first Book Naration

I hate to offend the narrator of this book, seeing that he has several more under his belt, but this was the absolute hardest book to finish due solely to his tone and delivery. Different voices suit different genres perhaps. Slowing it down helped a little.
Please remake this book with another narrator for I fear listeners will not give the book, nor the others in the series a fair chance. This is an amazing story with exciting moments and memorable characters. I may be mistaken, but it seemed by the release dates that the first 2 books appear out of order. I listened to Making of a Mountaon Man first based on the summary.
The narrator in that book was very good. Medicine Wheel has a pretty good narrator. I'm excited but also apprehensive about the narration of the 4th book.

excellent second book in the series

If you enjoyed the first book in this series, you will enjoy this one as well. The story and characters continue on.
The one thing I did find becoming a little distracting for me in this volume however was the increasing "supernatural" behaviors of the hero's dog, among other things. Jimbo's abilities have become just a little too unbelievable, almost mystical/magical/supernatural. The author has begun to weave in several threads of mysticism in this volume, and for me personally, those threads do somewhat take away from and get in the way of the story.

Narrator

The narrator was talking too fast while when the characters were talking. Besides that well done!

Fun series

Really are enjoying this Grizzly killer. This is book two and we are now on book three and have ordered book three. Great traveling book. Sometimes we have to just park and finish a chapter.

Get someone else to narrate

Finished the 1st book in one day at work snow plowing driveways. Was really excited to start the next one but was completely thrown off by the narrator. We’ll see if I continue on with the series since I see the others are a different narrator.

story

I like the story line, however it seems like the first half of the book was describing the first one, and then the narration which was awful, at first he appeared disinterested in the story and read without passion, then all the sudden he seemed so excited about some content that he reads it like an excited teenager, and the attempts at changing voices were ridiculous.. sadly bad narration causes me to stop listening to what I think could be a great series in a genre that sadly has far to few authors.😒 I'm discouraged and thinking I won't waste any more money..

Excellent

One of the best Westerns I've read. The author provides a word picture of life in the mountains during the early 1800's.
