Publisher's summary

Will Lois Barker put down roots in Green...or will small-town life be too tough? The charming and uncertain journalist is delighted with her decision to keep The Green News-Item and excited about the possibility of romance with her good-looking catfish farmer/coach neighbor - and the growth of her fresh faith and friendships. Her second year in Green has scarcely been rung in, though, before Lois is wrung out. The former owners of the paper want it back. The mayor's dog bites her on the face. A series of fires threaten Lois. And while her friends blossom, Lois feels wilted.

Southern Charm, Old Scoundrels and God's Grace

The second in The Green (Louisiana) series is just as good as the first, and it finds the owner of the local newspaper, Lois Barker, up against the previous owners, who are trying to get the paper back by hook or crook. With the staff of the The Green News-Item behind her as well as the town, Lois begins the fight to keep the paper, despite the fact that someone set it afire, trying to destroy the printing press. Next came a fire at Lois' home. The folks of Green, Louisiana are as varied as they come, but more and more they are uniting. Catfish farmer, Chris, Dr. Kevin, the local doctor (who is a single black woman) and adopting a young boy who lost his parents, the migrant Mexican farm workers, the woman pastor, at first shunned by the little town and the old brigade of prejudiced and close-minded residents with little compassion and love for their new neighbors. Circumstances, new people, patience and God's grace begin to work small miracles. This series is so enjoyable and never a sermon poked down your throat. The books are clean, fresh and just what I need. Bravo!!! I am already listening to Book Three!
