Publisher's summary

In this batch of sweet, short murder mysteries, three cooks don’t spoil the broth.

New York Times best-selling author Joanne Fluke pens the title story, in which a box of Hannah Swensen’s gingerbread cookies is found near the corpse of her neighbor.

Popular co-authors Laura Levine and Leslie Meier offer “The Dangers of Gingerbread Cookies” and “Gingerbread Cookies and Gunshots”, respectively.

Together, these three cozies will entertain listeners while compelling them to think twice about a cherished holiday treat.

Critic reviews

"Fluke, Levine, and Meier each offer a yuletide whodunit treat.... In Fluke's wry "Gingerbread Cookie Murder," Hannah Swensen of the Cookie Jar in Lake Eden, Minn., wants her neighbor Ernie Kusak to simply lower the volume on his too loud Christmas outdoor display, but she soon discovers Ernie with his head bashed in. In Levine's hilarious "The Dangers of Gingerbread Cookies," Jaine Austen's holiday stay at her parents' home in the Tampa Vistas retirement community is enlivened by the murder of elderly lothario Dr. Preston McCay, whose neck gets broken during his star turn in an amateur play called The Gingerbread Cookie That Saved Christmas. Rounding out the volume is Meier's less cheery but poignant "Gingerbread Cookies and Gunshots," about Maine reporter Lucy Stone's investigation of a four-year-old boy's disappearance." GingerBread Cookie Murder

Don't waste your time or money on this one. So short, and not of the quality of her other work. Then the other two books are not up to the quality of Fluke. So sorry I wasted my money and a credit on this book.

Loved Joanne Fluke Mystery

I loved the Joanne Fluke story with Hannah, not crazy about the other stories. I also love the narrator for the Hannah stories.

I really wanted to like it...

I really wanted to like this set of story's, because i love and collect both Joanne fluke and Leslie Meier books. With the exception to the fist story by Joanne Fluke the rest are not up to snuff. They fall flat and where lacking. Made me sad. I wouldn't recommend this book.

Cozy Christmas Mystery

Hannah has a new neighbor (who bought his condo after winning the lottery and) who's upsetting all the other neighbors with his blasting Christmas carols and light show of dancing elves and more. She tries to buy him off with a gift of gingerbread cookies but the racket continues into the night, and he doesn't answer the door when she pounds on it. Ultimately Mike shows up thanks to over a dozen complaints, and the man's ex-wife, who also lives in the complex, provides a secret spare key so they can get in and shut off the racket -- except Hannah finds his body before Mike's back from turning off the electric. There are multiple suspects -- the ex-wife, whom the "victim" still expected to iron his shirts and perform other domestic work, IF she wants college money for her kids, another complex resident who crawled in the window to shut off the racket... Ultimately it's Hannah's mother, Delores, who provides the crucial clue. Nice use of Delores. It's short but satisfying.

Not great

fairly predictable with corny jokes repeated multiple times in the second story. Racial stereotypes and gay jokes (where they even ask in the book not to cancel them). Characters are super cringey

Pretty good.

I enjoyed all of these stories, but my favorite hands down is definitely Hannah!! The humor was real and it was lovely.

Second book

I don’t care for the second writer I tried the last time and I thought maybe this time would be better, but I don’t like the writer, and I absolutely do not care for the narrator

Great Story Telling

If you like a little murder mystery with your Christmas these are great. The stories flow with just enough humor. You can visualize as they unfold . And you can make the treats you hear about becouse the receptors are included at the end of the book.
Enjoy!!
