Cooper turns up just in time to help Elly investigate. And as the mystery deepens and dangerous ghost myths and legends come to light, Cooper makes it clear he intends to stick around - and this time he's holding nothing back...

want more

Light fun read, almost like anime with the dust bunnies. If you enjoyed this author she also writes as Amanda Quick and Jayne Ann Krentz but audible didn't bother to link her books

good story, poor narration

What did you like best about Ghost Hunter? What did you like least?

The story is a nice continuation of the series and when I read the book I was very pleased with the characters. Unfortunately, the same characters in the audiobook were portrayed as whining soap opera actors. It made the book very hard to listen to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked both the hero and heroine in theory. When reading their conversations, they came off as having a fun bantering quality between them that I enjoyed.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrators interpretation of all of the characters, but especially the heroine, came off as snarky, immature, and whiny. What should have been a fun story became irritating and tedious.

Did Ghost Hunter inspire you to do anything?

Avoid more books by this narrator.

Reader makes a difference

Would you consider the audio edition of Ghost Hunter to be better than the print version?

na

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I like Castle's stories and this series being futuristic.

What didn’t you like about Laural Merlington’s performance?

Except for the main woman character all the other voices sounded like everyone was in their 80's and the main male character sounded old and wimpish... spoiled the book for me.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

no

Any additional comments?

I love audio books but voices need to fit the characters will not by a book read by this person again.

Don't Change a Narrator in the Middle of a series

What did you like best about Ghost Hunter? What did you like least?

I greatly enjoy all the series that Mrs. Krentz writes and this book does a wonderful job of continuing the story in Harmony, while still connecting the characters from previous books.

What other book might you compare Ghost Hunter to and why?

Really the only books I can compare it to are the others in the series. I have not read much futuristic material but I greatly enjoyed this one.

What didn’t you like about Laural Merlington’s performance?

This was the major problem with the story. If you are listening to a series in order and then the narrator is changed, it is difficult to stay comfortable with the characters. They do not have the same feel to them and the new characters seem out of sync. I am not saying the narrator did a bad job but if there was a problem getting Joyce Beam then you should have waited until she was available or something.

Could you see Ghost Hunter being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I could see this being made into a movie but I think you could write a screen play using maybe the first two books for one movie. As far as the actors go. I would say it would be better to use unknowns then well established actors and actresses. You need hot, athletic and driven actors/actresses for this, not those that are doing the job just to get paid.

Blue Ghost Story

Who was the most memorable character of Ghost Hunter and why?

The dust bunnies are the most memorable.

Any additional comments?

I have been listing to the series and this follows the series and leads you through Harmony. If you just listen to one story you do not get the whole of the world of harmony. Each story leads you to a different part. And the different personalities of the dust bunnies who really make the story.

Another fantastic story

Onward with ghost hunter series. This being the 3rf in the series. Love the storyline, characters, including dust bunnies and this worlds story. Jayne Anne Krantz aka, Amanda quick, aka Jayne Castle....Each style under all 3 names are - Amazingly Imaginative, wonderfully descriptive stories that I have loved for the last 37 years. Waiting for the next rain shadow series novel after Illusion Town. Thank you for all the hours of enjoyment. A loyal follower and reader and audio book listener. Aloha

Glaring flaw in this narration--production error should be corrected!

The population of people living on Harmony came through the curtain from the Pacific Northwest and have been living on the planet Harmony for 200 years. With no contact from Earth after the curtain closed.

How did Detective Alice Martinez end up with the accent of a newly arrived immigrant from Mexico? A very irritating flaw in the depiction of a minor character ruined this book narration for me. The other books in this series with Alice Martinez do not have her speaking with an immigrant accent. Since book narrations have producers and directors, someone blew it on this one. Sheesh!

Guild Boss Gets Snarked!

one of the things that keeps me coming back to Jayne's books isthewhathercharacters are always willing to show their intelligence and verbally spar with the men. This story is a great example of that.

But, I was a little disappointed in the audible performance. This story takes place hundreds of years from now on a planet which has a relatively small population, all of whom are descended from colonists. Is it realistic to assume that Asian and Latino characters will still have stereotypical accents? I don't think so. For that reason, I find the accents given to Mrs. Kim and Detective Martinez unrealistic and troubling.
