Publisher's Summary

The fabric of American society has been torn asunder by an EMP attack on the United States. The enormity of what has happened is sinking in to the population. No area of the country has been spared. From the big cities to the rural countryside, all have been impacted.

Loved ones are stranded far from home, their suffering families not knowing their fate. Food is in short supply, transportation has come to a halt, and a short trip across the county can become deadly. Law and order has fallen by the wayside.

Desperation is setting in, and desperate people will do desperate things. The struggles and the fight to survive is real. The physical, mental, and emotional scars will last a lifetime.

The time is now for individuals and communities to come together in order to survive. But will they? Will you? Those that survive will never be the same.

Great story / Hard to listen

My wife and I have listened to this genre of fiction novels for the past three years on audible while we travel. Most are difficult to listen due to the graphic language, so it was refreshing to hear/read from an author that did not believe that sort of foul language was necessary.

But... the fake southern accent from the narration became too hard to listen. We started laughing so much the story became insignificant. Why the author would use that makes no sense. As much as we enjoyed the story we would not purchase another if the narration were done by the same readers.

Just being honest, thank you.

Fan since the beginning.

while I have always appreciated the skill of good narrators, I especially like Mr. Motes' technique of using each chapter to provide the various characters' perspectives!

Best yet

I am completely floored how all of these books came together. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. I don't want to ruin it for anyone but I am completely floored .

Another Great Book by Jeff Motes

This, the the third book in he series, did an amazing job of tying book one and book two together. I️ love the 1st person by chapter format and the choice to use multiple readers. For an audio format this sets the book apart from others in this genre. The writing is good the characters are great and he storyline is amazing. The practical information that can be gleaned from the book is added bonus.

Can’t wait for the next one!

Save your time and money.

I really don’t like to rip anyone’s work but I find it impossible to do anything else in this instance.

I have listened to many audio books. This is perhaps the worst I have listened to. The story is not well developed and very contrived. It doesn’t make sense and the characters are unbelievable.

Since I have only listened to this book and not read it, my review of the book is also colored by the performance. I found the book written in the clipped manner of a child’s early primary reader.

Like I said before, my review is colored by the performance. The performance was worse than terrible. My ears are bleeding. Character voices were overdone and trite. Voice inflection was like an over dramatic librarian reading to preschoolers sitting on the library floor.

The only good thing I can say is that the author’s faith in God does shine through. I wish I could be more charitable but in good conscience, I can’t.

I wish that the author could be compensated for his work but I cannot recommend that anyone waste their own money on this novel. If you still choose to purchase the book, remember, you were warned.
