Publisher's Summary

When her last two plays are dismal failures and her relationship with her temperamental mentor falls apart, writer Bree O’Brien abandons Chicago and the regional theater where she hoped to make a name for herself to return home. Opening Flowers on Main promises to bring her a new challenge and a new kind of fulfillment.

But not all is peaceful and serene in Chesapeake Shores, with her estranged mother on the scene and her ex-lover on the warpath. Jake Collins has plenty of reasons to want Bree out of his life, but none of those are a match for the one reason he wants her to stay: he’s still in love with her.

Jake might be able to get past that old hurt if he knew Bree was home to stay, but is she? The only way to know for sure is to take a dangerous leap of faith.

Spend some more time in Chesapeake Shores.

Good Read

I love Sherryl Wood's books. This was a good read as a second in the series. I'm anxious to read Book 3. I do have to admit the Grandmother's Irish accent was distracting but the Texas accent on the bride of the brother.....the WORST. I'm from Texas and found it very offensive and not at all authentic. Not the author's fault.

Rehash

Book two was too much like book one in its constant attempts by the new couple to understand each other. The other problem is the reader who is no Barbara Rosenblat. Too bad, Worst is the attempt to make third generation Grandma sound Irish.

Heart warming family story

Would you listen to Flowers on Main again? Why?

I would listen to this story again especially when I am feeling like I cannot accomplish anything.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Flowers on Main?

Everyone loves a come back story and this is it!

Would you listen to another book narrated by Christina Traister?

I like the series and find it fun to read a book with familiar characters.

If you could rename Flowers on Main, what would you call it?

Would have loved a more varied range with the vocal performance.

Just Ok

I have read a few books in this O'Briens series by the author. The books are easy to listen to and you don't have to pay much attention if you are doing something else. However, all the books seem to sound the same. At the end of her books too the author seems to get bored and just ties everything up.

Narrarator is a robot

Would be so much better with another narrator...The story was a bit repetitive and not as good as the others in the series.

It was always this bad?

I read this book 8 years ago or so. I loved it! I've ready almost the entire series and have nothing but fond memories of it. I've started it over now and didn't mind the first book. But the story of Bree & Jake was always my favorite.

Well now with 8 more years on my life - I really didn't like this! I couldn't believe how insecure Jake is. It just got under my skin, especially after the 1000th time of him confronting Bree & then running away. Ugh - so glad this book finished, that was definitely the best part

Overall enjoyable story

I am really enjoying the series; however, the narrator's attempt at several different accents just didn't work for me, I had a hard time staying focused on the story because of it. (I am referring to Georgia, Marty, Mac, and occasionally Nell). Hopefully the next one is better since I like listening on my commute.

Annoying & immature love interest of Bree O'Brien

Would you try another book from Sherryl Woods and/or Christina Traister?

yes

If you’ve listened to books by Sherryl Woods before, how does this one compare?

the love interest is so annoying and immature. The fact that it took 10 hours of listening for this guy to get a grip and grow up. What is with him walking out every time he saw her or came into contact with her?

What does Christina Traister bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

not really

Was Flowers on Main worth the listening time?

as background noise - yes

Any additional comments?

I do not think that I would recommend this book to my friends and I am hoping that the next in the series is much better.

Looking forward to the next in the series

Although you can be pretty much sure of the outcome the series is well written and leaves you wanting to know what is next

expected more from this author

I have now read two books in this series and do not see myself reading any others. The books were practically identical. The characters are not really likeable, especially the mother. Her reasons for leaving her family are not substantial enough to be warranted. She is completely unlikable. the story line goes on and on and around in circles which is expected in romance novels, but this one and this series seem to have no direction whatsoever. The choices these people make, like having party over for Thanksgiving dinner, are just dumb.
