Publisher's summary

Two monstrous evils. The quiet suburban town of Hampstead is threatened by two horrors. One is natural. The hideous, unstoppable creation of man's power gone mad. The other is not natural at all. And it makes the first look like child's play.

heavily abridged

What would have made Floating Dragon better?

I was very dissatisfied with this down load. the book was so heavily abridged that it lost 90% of the important story features and by doing so left huge holes in the continuity of the book if such a thing were possible i would demand a refund. I had read this book when it was published and this rendering was a huge let down!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS JUNK. SINCE THIS DOWNLOAD I HAVE BEEN LEERY OF USING THIS SERVICE AGAIN ....CAVEAT EMPTAR!!

What could Peter Straub have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

NOTHING

What aspect of Fritz Weaver’s performance would you have changed?

NOTHING

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Floating Dragon?

ARE YOU KIDDING?? THIS WAS ALREADY CUT TO THE BONE

Don't don't don't

I can't believe Peter Straub would allow this. Floating Dragon is an incredible book, one of my favorites. How can they release a title with the same name that is nothing like the book. I'm so disappointed and feel completely scammed

what is this?

I don't kno what this is but is not a correct audiobook of the actual novel by Straub because I have his actual novel and it is over 500 pages and should be about 15 hours long at least, not a jumbled 2 and half hours. Does anyone know where this version comes from? did Straub ok this? or even write it? Because it's terrible and almost incoherent! Also the narrator is one of the worst I've ever heard. hes constantly swallowing loud in our ears and smacking his lips and tongue. he takes long pauses as well. very amateurish.

Straub never disappoints!

I first became a big fan of Peter Straub many, many moons ago after reading Ghost Story, followed soon by my first reading of Floating Dragon. Every story/novella/book I've ever read of his has been well worth the read...unique, smart plots; descriptive language that brings about a clear picture in the minds of the readers (eeek!); and stories that keep one's attention alert and wide-awake, and waiting with baited breath for every word/sentence/paragraph/page/chapter...pulling the reader along with it at brakeneck speed. Not a single word is wasted in the telling of Floating Dragon, and as always with Peter's stories, suspense and horror grabbed me from the start... and just kept mounting with each page (even though this is a RE-reading of Floating Dragon for me). Lately, I have been rereading many books of all genres from the favorite books and authors that I've enjoyed reading throughout my life, and Straub's books are without a doubt among those faves. The second read was just as good as the first...maybe even a bit better!!!

Peace... Jade Dragon

Don't Bother

This is a condensed version ... I was horrified to see that its running time was three hours. I don't spend money for a few paragraphs.

sorry, didn't like this at all. stuff happens that comes out of thin air and have no basis in the story. and Fritz, too many breathing and mouth noises for me.

Like bad cliff notes

One of Mr Straub’s better fairy tales not abridged - literally hacked to pieces and spit onto tape.

Excellent performance navigating the disaster by Mr. Weaver

Abridged

The description did not say this was abridged. It is cut up so badly you cannot follow the story.

It is abridged and I tried it so you don’t have to!

I was hoping I could get the bits I needed to know what the story was about. Kind of like a TV show version of this film sized book. It jumps and cuts through so much you get none of the story just introduced to a dozen characters and a town and a supernatural force without any understanding or care for any of it.
You don’t even get an abridged version of the story. It’s cut to pieces so it’s just pages of unconnected gristle in random spots of the books…
I did it. So you don’t have to.
Grab the paperback from your local bookstore for nothing! Or try thrift books if they don’t have it!
You’re welcome in advance
