Publisher's summary

At the conclusion of World War I, American oil interests in Africa are suddenly menaced by an unknown power. The Red Ace, a masked flying troubleshooter who operates out of Shanghai, is hired to investigate the sudden destruction of one of the oil company's outlying way stations.

Flying with his Chinese aide Wan Loo, the Ace encounters ambushes by skull-faced enemy pilots and a renegade German scientist, Herr Doktor Grün, who is on the brink of testing a terrible new weapon on both the oil fields and the American fleet.

Weirdly compelling

A very vintage-style book similar with to Green Hornet, where the lead wears a mask and investigates crime. The narrator seems a bit... green, but eventually I got used to it. I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to another of these, but it wasn't bad.
