Performance is good

...But the audio quality of some of these older books isn’t very good. I listened to this many years ago and I don’t remember the audio annoying me as much. This may be due to not having much to compare it to back then? I find now I can no longer listen to even slightly distorted audio I really like clean clear crisp audio. However I do remember liking this story at the time. Who knows sorry I know my reviews are useless.

Thank goodness for the fast forward button

I can’t figure out what this books wants to be…but it isn’t good. At the beginning I thought it might be a religious story, but these two teenage girls “sold” into marriage by their father appear to enjoy sex too much for that. Then it’s going to be about the intrepid heroine becoming an empowered businesswoman (hardly likely in the 1400s). I did have hopes that I might learn something about the silk industry, but that storyline is really just background texture. Nope, this story is about a weak woman masquerading as a strong woman who is desperate to stay the mistress of an evil tyrant who doesn’t even seem to care about her. Maybe it all comes together in the end, but I just can't get there with this book.
