Publisher's summary

Action, romance, and intrigue in Kenya...

Widow Sandra Harriman fights to protect a wildlife sanctuary from poachers, armed gangs, and business rivals. An antlion is an insect that creates mini volcano like craters of finely sifted sand into which ants fall and are unable to escape. Sandra feels like an ant in one of these traps as she fights to protect the Wildlife Conservation Scheme left in her care for her two step-children. Nothing has equipped her for the role of widow, step-mother, and estate manager. She faces a struggle to deal with armed gangs, poachers, and a murderer on the ranch. But hardest of all is unravelling her dead husband's secrets to find out who she can trust.

I loved it

Since I had met the author on line I ordered the Kindle version of the Feast of the Antlion a few days after it was published and enjoyed it immensely. Six and a half years later I find the Audible version even more satisfying. The story takes the reader to Kenya and plunges us into an adventure in and around a wildlife sanctuary. Two areas totally unfamiliar to me, but not to the author whose descriptive prose brings them to life and my understanding. It begins when Sarah, recently widowed, crashes the plane she was piloting after gunshots disabled it and was rescued by Martin, a friend of her dead husband, who has just returned to his nearby home after several years as a reporter in war-torn countries. It soon becomes obvious that Sarah is in a struggle to save and preserve her husband’s wild life sanctuary for her four-year-old twin step-children. Uncertain who to trust as she uncovers secrets and endures dangerous situations she finds that sometimes all she can do is hang on to hope, trust her judgement and keep trying. The author has filled the story with action and suspense and a thread of potential romance which is threatened as past and present secrets are discovered. Lynne Thompson’s narration enhances the suspense and brings both major and minor characters to life.

Rhino

This book was hard for me to get into at first but once I was I was hooked. It had me on the edge of my seat and wanting to hear more. There were a few spots in the narration the repeated but it wasn't a big deal. The only real problem I had was the sound quality.
