Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Faking Friends by Jane Fallon, read by Sally Scott and Kristin Atherton.

Best friend. Soulmate. Confidante. Backstabber.

Amy thought she knew who Melissa was - then again, Amy also thought she was on the verge of the wedding of her dreams to her long-distance fiancé. When her career begins to unravel, she pays a surprise trip home to London. Her boyfriend Jack is out, but another woman has been making herself at home.... And that Other Woman is Melissa.

Amy has lost her job, her fiancé and her home in one disastrous weekend - but instead of falling apart, she's determined to get her own back. Piecing her life back together won't be half as fun as dismantling theirs, after all.

Schadenfreude to the max

This was a good book and though it’s in the chick-lit genre it’s not at all cheesy (not that it has to be, but it’s typically a main ingredient for chick-lit). The story delves into a deep-rooted, toxic, best friendship between childhood friends and the elements that hold it together and tear it apart. It explores the meaning and recognition of genuine friendships and how “schadenfreude” is not and should never be in the mix. Overall, the story is solid, character development is great, and the ending is truly satisfying.

Pleasant but too much.

What started as an interesting plot went a bit too far to be believable to me. I enjoyed it but I began to feel it was impossible for anyone to have remained friends with such a horrible person for decades. Too much unhappy past history.

Didn't want it to end

I loved this book, read quite a few of Jane Fallons books and this is her best so far. If you like a good bitchfest revenge story then this is for you.

wonderful

This is a cracking listen. I enjoyed every minute. lots of twists. Only downside was I didn't believe the character was nearly forty. they all seemed to be in their late 20s.

Truly awful

With the exception of the latest Helen Fields book, I’ve downloaded some really duds lately.

This one is boring, patronising & fluffy (not in a happy feel good way).

Don’t waste your time. Got to the fourth chapter & couldn’t stand anymore.

Thank goodness for audible allowing you to return books you don’t like!

A little see through

Not a story I was completely comfortable with given the revenge factor. Fairly easy to spot the final outcome. Good narration.

Thoroughly enjoyable listen

This book had me in turns laughing out loud, thinking about values, feeling apprehensive and basically just had me hooked. It was read beautifully. The psychology of the characters was well crafted. Thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable. Look after your real friends, people! ;o)
