Can't go wrong with Kilborn.

Another classic story from Jack Kilborn. Very good book with great characters. Solid narrator too.

Would you listen to Endurance again? Why?

I'm not sure i Would Listen to it again because i don't typically do the read/listen thing twice.

What does Christopher Lane bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings the west Virginia country sound to it and i would have a hard time building the characters voices, and there are many! It took me some time to get used to the country sounding voices but he did a great job holding characters to their unique voices.

Any additional comments?

Good Listen and story. If your not used to the country twang it takes a bit to get used to but the twang helps place you in the West Virginia mountains. Creepy place! :)

Scary

Awesome story. Scared the shit out of me. Recommend this book to everyone who likes to be scared.

Just couldn't stomach some scenes...

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I was told that Jack Kilborn wrote books that scared the pants of people. This time of year, when the dark creeps up on you sooner, I love listening to books like that. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. There is nothing scary about cannibalism and rape. This book must have been a point of reference for "The Hills Have Eyes" and "House of a Thousand Corpses." While there is nothing wrong with those movies, I just don't consider them "scary".

If rape and gore is something you want to listen about, then go ahead and get this book. I can honestly say it is unnerving and some times uncomfortable to listen to what is happening to the characters in the book, if that works for you.

Did Christopher Lane do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

He didn't have to do much work. Almost all the rednecks were the same in their manner of speaking and accent. But he did well, to the point where I could imagine their distorted faces from the way he portrayed their voices.

Was Endurance worth the listening time?

I plan to listen to another Jack Kilborn book and will definitely look forward to any book that Christopher Lane reads. But if you are looking for a scary book, look somewhere else.

Endurance

This has to be one of the goriest, most violent books I've ever read. It's plot (?) is outRAGEOUSly impossible. As for me, that's what I expect for a book in this category. So if you like gory books, this a 5 star one. I took away a lot of points because of the narrator. I give him a minus 1 star. Awful. Maybe he's trying to sound like Will Patton, but he fails miserably. Awful voices. Annoying drawl.
Overall though, I still wanted to finish it to see how it ended. Not always true with a lot of books.
Gory, gross and gruesome. I cringed several times and I LOVE horror stories! Got what I paid for.

Wicked fun!!!!

This fast-paced thriller is deliciously gory! Narrator Christoper Lee is amazing and gives an all-out performance. There are a wide variety of characters, from the Katherine Hepburn-esque grandmother to cleft-palate mutants and he makes them all come alive.

Great!!!

I don't understand how everyone thinks this is sooo gory?? It was really nothing worse than any other American blooded horror/Slasher/mutant story. Movies show just as much gore, blood and guts. Maybe seeing it with your eyes is more tolerated than having it described with such detail.

I've never heard of Jack Kilborn until I listen to his book "Horror", its a collection of some of his earlier and recent short stories, (which was really good and I'd totally recommend if u like this novel). But he is now one of my absolute favorites!!

"Endurance", was so fun and kept me wanting to hear more! In facet this is a perfect story to be set up as a great horror movie! Such a creative mind Kilborn has, he really made this a fun and bloody good time and I can't wait to hear, or read another one of his books!!! In fact, I think there's three more left and I'm getting them right now!

Full of twist and turns

I enjoyed The audio book Endurance it is one of the best thrillers I have read in a long time.

Good. Well written.

I have never read or listened to a horror book that I can remember. Have seen a few silence of the lambs type films. Always liked Stephen King but rarely go for this type of story. I did not know this was so gory. But I have to say I listened to every word and very much enjoyed it.

If you don't mind hyper fiction, it's a decent book to pass time. However, if you prefer stories that are a little more believable, don't waste your money!
