Best Historical Fiction

Brilliant Conclusuon

This closes the adventures, for now, in a wonderful build, battle, and wrap up that ties the lose ends, and leaves a few frayed. The characters engross you into the story feeling their joy and turmoil with the hints and weaves of American history. A must read… and a phenomenal listen adding even more depth to the characters with the audiobook.

Best narration I’ve ever heard!

This narrator nails it. Male voices, female voices, accents, characters, acting- perfect. Made this excellent series extraordinary

Interesting story and Davis is a great narrator. I've listed to all four and will relisten in the future.

Love the books and the Narration

David is a great writer who puts a lot of work into the research of the area and times. Jonathan is a favored narrator on the level of James Marsters Dresden. You know each character by the voice he has for them and he makes it feel like a full cast audio.

I like this

It was a while when I last read Thieftaker Chronicles book 2 and now when i did get on my hands books 3 and 4 I just read them non stop.
I like that D B Jackson writes unique story and Jonathan Davis reads it a live.
I like this little lazy, slow pace. Rough voice and non horridly reading. All this will make this story and its characters come to life and you fell in love them.
Hopefully this isnt last book that we will hear Ethan Kaille.

The more Kaille bleeds, the more he learns.

The British troops garrisoned in Boston grow bored and tired and the Colonials, dissatisfied with their presence, toss barbs and snowballs. It's a situation that is destined to worsen. All it takes is a little push, and it appears that an unknown conjurer is more than willing to provide it. Spells that overtake a man's will, leaving them moved to violence, are happening wherever Kaille goes.

And then Ethan realizes it's his fault. His magic that is being used without his permission. Seems the mortals of Boston aren't the only ones being spell worked.

I admit to thinking Ethan's initial suspicion regarding the man at fault to be a red herring but no, an old nemesis returns. The ending marks a shift in Ethan's life. Wonder where the series will go from here?

great summary to the series but bot the best book.

I love this series, but I wouldn't call this the strongest in the series.
SPOILER WARNING!!!
it felt as if Kale was slowly going mad throughout, as if he was imagining his foe. it made for an interesting twist, but I suppose I was going in a different thought direction anticipating where the story would go.
But in the end there were a few mysteries left unanswered that I'm pretty sure I knew the answer to anyway but it is unlike Jackson to leave anything unanswered:
- What item was being used to control him? pretty sure it was his old Tricorn hat, but it was never mentioned. I actually expected that to be one of the hidden items behind the bed.
- Will Kelf ever accept him as a conjurer? perhaps if there is ever a follow up book this may be answered.
- It was never explained how Debora just knows he's a speller when Ethan comes up to her and Diver and explains what was happening. I expected him to pull diver to the side, or commit details giving Diver a hint as to the gaps. As if she found out in the last book or something. But I suppose we can just assume and recognize that Diver can't keep a secret to save his own ass, so it would be assumed.
- Why would it just be assumed that the person that was bled that Ethan and Morris healed would just wake up all fine and dandy and just go about his life... Honestly seems like brushing over that he's going to just wake up in a half destroyed warehouse next to a corpse under a sheet, and not look under the sheet or want to investigate further as to what happened to them. it's a lot like someone would feel waking up in a bathtub missing a kidney. I never noticed these kind of missing gaps from the previous books, which is why I'd have to rate this book a notch lower than that of the rest of the series.
Great series, and room left yet fo more developments, such as that Portuguese master mentioned. or perhaps Nathanial will somehow be resurrected by his crew to haunt Ethan as some reborn abomination. But whatever happens please don't do the stereotypical 'protagonist's love interest dies' bullshit... I get too much of that out of everything else.
