Publisher's summary

The family saga continues in this fifth addition to the Davenport House series.

It is springtime in 1917 when America joins the Great War in Europe. Phillip enlists to earn his citizenship papers, but Ethan must sign for the draft against his own conscience. When both men are sent to fight, the ladies of Davenport House join noble causes on the home front while waiting for them to return.

Clara, now a suffragette, is delighted to gain the attention of a secret admirer. Mary finds purpose in a new career during the nation's shortage of medical personnel. Soldiers wounded in mind and body return from the war and unknowingly import a deadly influenza, proving to every home that a far worse battle has just begun.

Davenport 5

The story goes on for everyone at Davenport house.People still don't talk to each other before leaving.Marraiges are rushed into rather than checking to see the persons true self. There is flu and WW1.I enjoy these stories! Allyson Voller was a fine narator. Her characters are spot on.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Good book

This audio book was a promotion, that has nothing to do with my voluntary review. I did yell at the machine a bit, but most of the hardships where resolved. I did enjoy the characters, in all the series so far. I recommend this book, and series. I left a similar review on Goodreads.

Death and destruction, births and deaths.

The saga again continues, with many births, deaths and marriages. However, the influenza epic brings home what the current world situation is. We just have to hope that is the only thing that this series mimics with the current world turmoil.
