Publisher's summary

The irrepressibly charming duo of Emerson Knight and Riley Moon returns in another gripping mystery by New York Times best-selling author Janet Evanovich.

Buddhist monk Wayan Bagus lost his island of solitude and wants to get it back. The island was about 200 miles northeast of Samoa. It had a mountain, beaches, a rainforest, and a volcano. And now it's gone. Poof! Vanished without a trace.

Brilliant and boyishly charming, Emerson Knight likes nothing better than solving an unsolvable, improbable mystery. And finding a missing island is better than Christmas morning in the Knight household. When clues lead to a dark and sinister secret that is being guarded by the National Park Service, Emerson will need to assemble a crack team for help. Since a crack team isn't available, he enlists Riley Moon and his cousin Vernon. Riley Moon has a Harvard business degree and can shoot the eyes out of a grasshopper at 50 feet, but she can't figure out how to escape the vortex of Emerson Knight's odd life. Vernon has been Emerson's loyal and enthusiastic partner in crime since childhood. He now lives in an RV behind Emerson's house.

Together this ragtag, mismatched trio will embark on a worldwide investigation that will expose a conspiracy 100 years in the making.

Could not get past a male Lula!

I love ms King reading the Stephanie Plum books ...all of them. This one was disappointing because all the characters sounded to familiar and the story was not interesting or even plausible ..very disappointed!!

It was enjoyable.

I relisten to Curious Minds before starting this. I still enjoyed the characters immensely however it had a Stephanie Plum feel in the 2nd book that the first one didn't particularly have. it was a lot of the same characters we see in the Plum books just different people playing the parts.
It was a wonderful listen but I won't be so gung ho to listen/read the next one especially if it stays the same course, I may wait awhile but I will listen/read it.
Please enjoy this book, it was a good, these were just my observations.

Stephanie Plum in Hawaii

I enjoyed the story but with Lorelei King reading it the characters sound exactly like the Stepanie Plum books characters ( Vernon sounds like Lula and Riley sounds like Staphanie) and it was difficult to keep the book straight when I kept thinking of Lula & Stephanie. It would be a good idea to have different readers to ensure each series sounds like its own group of characters rather than all of the characters from all the series sounding alike.

Glad Lorelei King read it because I wouldn't have finished it.

I love JE and her humor! Was really hoping that the Knight and Moon characters would really develop. It just didn't happen, especially Emerson.

First let down

Evanovich has been a long time go to for quick witted, fun reads, but this was a let down. The plot was ridiculous and the characters even more so. The best way I can describe this book is utterly and annoyingly cartoonish. I'll continue to follow her other works, but I'm leaving the Moon and Knight series.

Not my favorite Evanovich Book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The story got me through the drive but it was not something I would turn on at home when there were other entertainment options.

Would you recommend Dangerous Minds to your friends? Why or why not?

Not really - the story was convoluted and not at all believable.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Well - that was another issue. All of her characters sound like the characters from the Stephanie Plum series. Either a different narrator or Ms. King needs some more voices.

Was Dangerous Minds worth the listening time?

Somewhat

Any additional comments?

I love Janet Evanovich - just not this story.

Unbelievable

I love the Stephanie Plumb series. This didn’t sound like Janet and was way too unbelievable to enjoy. I look forward to more Plumb novels.

Short and disappointing

I wasted a credit on this one. Typically I am a huge Janet Evanovich fan, but not this time.

Sad

I’m sad! I love Evanovich but this was just okay. The narrator is not very good at all and the whole thing comes across as silly.
