Book 3 in the Damaged Goods Mystery Series

Certified Process Server Jackie Parker could do a case study in bizarre human behavior. Like the time the Damaged Goods property management team found a man fermenting his own fecal matter to get high. Or the angry downstairs tenant who threatened to spit on her. And that was just one building in the Miami Arts District.

Returning to the scene of the crime a year later at the request of the landlord, Jackie believes she's ready for anything. Since the Dark Prince left the team, she and Luke have gone through an amicable divorce and maybe just this one time she can manage to not land face first in something foul. But what they find in the vacated apartment is far worse than on their earlier visit and Jackie's situation is about to get a whole lot messier.

Cue Logan.

Don't miss the epic finale to the Damaged Goods trilogy, it's a laugh a minute and what listeners describe as "More addictive than krockodil!"

Not my favorite

Just was not my favorite. Couldn't listen to entire story flash backs were not needed. More mystery and less spoiled child 3 way love triangle confusion.

Love the narration

This book, while enjoyable, didn’t have the same feel to it as the rest of the books in this series. The case Jackie got herself involved in was just too big and it lacked the cozy feel to it. Granted, this one she was forced into and not one she actively went looking for, but the sentiment holds true. There was also way too much family drama for my tastes. To be honest, I was over that by now. I know that it’s not an easy situation, but it overshadowed everything else.

Jackie is supposedly a smart woman, but her decision making don’t really reflect that. I get that she’s torn between Luke and Logan; she has history and feelings for them both. I don’t really have a preference either way – at least a strong one – but I do feel that she’s forced to make hasty decisions and aren’t really allowed to process her own wants and feelings. Both men push and pull and make demands on her in their own way. To the point where I’m wondering if she’s really sure of the choices she makes.

I think my favourite part of this book was Suzanne Cerreta’s narration. She was brilliant as always and brought the characters to life. She knows them, who they are and makes the listener know them as well. She adds feelings to her words, distinguishes between characters and is in general very pleasant to listen to.

A copy of this book was generously gifted to me by the author.

Love this series

I enjoy these books. I have loved how the author co-mingled these characters into her other series The Laundry Hag-Christmas.

More Trouble for The Team

The third book of the series was filled with more problems and trouble for the Damaged Good property management team. The author placed her characters in a lot of amusing situations which kept the story flowing along swiftly. I enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I recommend this tale to others who enjoy this genre. Suzanne Cerreta's narration was exceptional, and her style kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

I Love This Series

WOW! This book is a doozy. So many twists and turns. Narrator Suzanne Cerreta once again voices the characters. Jackie Drummond is tough, intelligent and puts others before her self. Her relationship with the Parker brothers continues to be complicated.

Flashbacks

This third book is full of flashbacks.
We learn the story behind Luke and Jackie’s marriage, and how Logan reacts to seeing Jackie after their one night stand.
Though it was nice to finally get some more background information, for me this was too little too late.
In the first 2 books, I felt like I was overloaded with drama, marriage problems and a love triangle, without being able to fully place and understand it.
If more insights were added to book 1, I would have enjoyed this series much more.

Spoiler alert
It bothered me a bit that the flashbacks weren’t in chronological order, and that to me they didn’t seem to add-up.
We first get to witness Logan’s reaction on Jackie’s wedding day (I didn’t like Logan anymore after that scene, what a jerk).
And later in the book we get a scene from when Luke first takes Jackie home and Logan was much nicer/ the encounter ended in a truce, even though it took place before the wedding scene.
For me this just didn’t fit with Logan’s attitude during the wedding scene.
This lessened my enjoyment.

Like in all previous books, I do like Jackie and her mom, mother in law and pets.
I love the humor and narration.
Personally I would recommend Jennifer’s Laundry Hag series over this one. (more fun, less drama)

WOW WOW. This was packed with action!

This book was amazing!

I am not sure if this was mislabeled as the last in the series, or if the author was planning on it being the last then changed her mind, but I am about to move to book 4 so...

As way out there as the elements of this plot were, this book felt the most real and possible. I had been about to give up because I was so angry at everyone always pushing her around, and making decisions for her, and everyone blowing hot and cold every other page (with reason). Glad I didn’t.

Narrator still working really well for me. Accents clean and consistent, male and female characters voices equally well.
