When the ruler of Cuba stepped down in 2018, the Cuban people led by Javier Hernandez started a revolution. The Cuban people were led to believe that the US military would only occupy Cuba for a one year reconstruction period. Several years have now passed, and the US military presence has increased to the point of martial law. Meanwhile in the United States, our heroine, the beautiful first generation, Cuban-American, Chevita Diaz, is an American news reporter that begins to question the purpose of the United States military in Cuba, and what it may mean for the upcoming 2026 Presidential election. Chevita observes that the United States government is becoming more and more powerful, and she is concerned about the future of her country)

I think all men ask themselves at times if they "have what it takes" to be great. This novel is an inspiration to be your best, and stand up for freedom, no matter which flag you stand beside.

Good book to listen to on a road trip

What made the experience of listening to Cuban Grit: A Modern Tale of Revolution the most enjoyable?

well narrated and easy to listen too, narrator had a Cuban accent and did a great job with changing character voices and did not make any mistakes.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cuban Grit: A Modern Tale of Revolution?

When Chevita, Bo Vance and Javier all meet at Marbella Beach Resort and she was the only one to know that Bo and Javier were meeting. Each thought that only Chevita would be there and when they saw each other they almost got into a fight and both walked out and decided to get a drink and talked about women, they became friends like men do and later they saw Chevita and sent her a drink. Charity did a great job narrating this action by using different voices, I had a great laugh because what happen at the meeting seemed to be just like life. Men can be ready to fight and the next they can have a drink and become friends in a moment.

I had quite a few laughs, and even said yeah a few times.

Any additional comments?

I went on a 3 1/2 hour drive this 4th of July holiday and listened to the complete book and found that I could listen to this book without any trouble. The narrator (Charity Rodriguez) voice came across pleasant, she was easy to understand and did a great job varying different characters voices and she did not mix up characters voices. If you decide to buy this audio book you will enjoy it and want to share it with your friends and family.
