Publisher's summary

Bree and Samson discover a crying infant in the snowy Rock Harbor forest. But where are the baby's parents? And how did she get there?

A mysterious sound leads search-and-rescue worker Bree Matthews and her dog, Samson, to an abandoned baby in the woods outside Rock Harbor, Michigan. Bree takes the baby girl in and begins to search for the mother—presumably the woman reported missing just days earlier.

While teams scour the wintery forests, Bree ferrets out clues about the woman. Where is she, and why did she leave the child behind? And how does that connect to Bree's first husband's mysterious death years ago in the Upper Peninsula? Everything Bree thought she knew about her life changes with the sound of a cry in the night.

Twists and turns

This book is an emotional roller coaster with twists and turns? I’m fairly good at figuring out the bad guys, but not this time!!

I’m pretty sure I’ll listen to it again, it was that good! Devon Oday did an excellent job with the narration!

Crazy twists

Every time I read another book in this series, I think - surely Colleen can’t come up with another crazy plot but she outdoes herself! Loved this book - can’t wait to grab another book from her!

Too much Tragedy for One Family

I love the characters in the story but struggled as it figured out what was happening in the plot. It was way too much tragedy for one family to handle in the series. I was very anxious and it was irritating to me. They would need major counseling and probably be really messed up with all that happened to them. Not my favorite book in this series.

More Christian propoganda

MC Bree is a widow and mother to her young son Davey. Bree - (recently remarried), and her rescue dog Samson discover a crying infant hidden intentionally in an old tree. She struggles to understand how someone could leave a baby in the wilderness.
At the same time, babies appear to go missing in the area and Bree wonders if there is a connection. While she tries to understand the clues, anomalies and weird close family/friends behaviors, Bree starts to doubt herself and the facts before her.
IMO what could have been an enjoyable mystery/crime story was spoiled with the Christian Propaganda that "God will save, if I have faith" I'm so annoyed with Audible and the Author for not identifying the proper genre and due to Audibles "new policies" I can't get my money back because I purchased the book with $$ not a credit - I feel I should be permitted a refund based on poor genre classification when advertising.
