Publisher's summary

Thane Jordan reluctantly travels to England to settle his brother's estate only to find he's inherited much more than he could possibly have imagined. Lady Jemma Bryan has no desire to spend a single minute in Thane Jordan's insufferable presence much less live under the same roof with the handsome, arrogant American. Forced to choose between poverty or marriage to the man, she travels across an ocean and America to reach his ranch in Oregon.

Nice story, dreadful narration

Liked story, but attempted more than once to listen all the way through narration. Worst audio reading ever. I know some author's audition narrators to read the stories, why not this one? I would have given the overall rating 4 or 5 stars if the storyteller vwas a good one. Although I really enjoy audio books, I found reading the ebook version of this more enjoyable than listening to it. Thx.

Crumpets and Cowpies

The worst narrator I have heard. His character voices were awful. Storyline was good, but would be more interesting with a better narrator. P

need a different reader

I loved the story. I grew up in Baker City Oregon so I was excited to see these. I will be getting the hard copy and reading it myself. I couldn't stand the reader. maybe for a different story but not this one. he made her sound like an idiot.

Not my type of book

Listened through Audible. The narrator's voice was really the wrong choice for this stoty. He read the story like he was reading to a child. The story line was just okay. The characters were more interesting. This book was extremely slow. No more cowboy western books for me.

Good story but...

Worst. Narrator. Ever. The female and child voices don’t sound serious. It sounds like my husband when he tries to imitate me. And for the life of me, I don’t understand the choice for a man to narrate a romance. It’s uncomfortable—like when your brother walks in on you and your girlfriends talking about sex. If this story had been read by a woman with just a little bit of talent, I might have given this 4 stars. As it is...get the ebook and read it on your own.

Delightful Story

Would you consider the audio edition of Crumpets and Cowpies to be better than the print version?

No, I would not. I had read the print version first and loved it. It is a wonderful story. A story that you don't want to stop reading until you finished. The character development was excellent.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lilly. She is a three year old little girl who brings out her princess personality. She is the most adorable child who could drive one crazy but still love her beyond reason.

Would you listen to another book narrated by John Martin Byrne?

I might depending on the story. He has a clear voice and wonderful dictation. But he also has a deep voice that made listening to the women and children's characters hard. I would have chosen someone with a softer voice for this book.

If you could take any character from Crumpets and Cowpies out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Jemma is a beautiful example of a young woman who adapts with grace to her new situation. Doesn't mean it isn't hard to do but she does it and helps the children to adapt as well. I love the way she never looked down on anyone despite of her social position.

Any additional comments?

The story is truly a great story full of love. Jemma and Thane love bantering back and forth. I recommend the book for reading.
