Publisher's summary

In this rich, involving novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Danielle Steel, a woman's life catapults from the old to the new, as she learns to seize the moment.

Stephanie Adams is a devoted stay-at-home mother, married to a successful lawyer in northern California, in a dead marriage she stayed in for years for the sake of her children. Then, on a ski trip in Squaw Valley, her fifty-two-year-old husband dies suddenly and all bets are off.

Despite her children's grief, her own conflicting emotions and loneliness, Stephanie tries to move on, but struggles to find herself as an independent individual, after years of giving up her life for everyone else. A spur-of-the-moment road trip and fork in the road lead her to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and a chance meeting - and her whole life changes forever.

She meets country music megastar Chase Taylor, who opens his whole world to her, and Stephanie is no longer the same woman, and can't be anymore. A new man. A new life. The excitement of Nashville. She discovers not only Chase, but herself. The music is bittersweet and the lyrics true in his dazzling, exotic and honest world.

As it deftly explores the complex ties between spouses, children, lovers and friends, and dances between the past and the future, Danielle Steel's moving novel brilliantly captures the shock of sudden loss, and the freedom it can bring. Here America's most beloved novelist shares the enduring power of seizing the day. Carpe Diem.

Great Love Story!

If you could sum up Country in three words, what would they be?

Love is Beautiful.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Country?

When Stephanie meets Chase on the hiking trail at the Grand Canyon.

What does Dan John Miller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He did a wonderful job narrating all the characters, even the female ones.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, definitely!

Any additional comments?

My 1st Danielle Steel book. Love Love Loved it. I will definitely listen to more of her books now. She's a great story teller!

Like narrators voice.

Touching. Hate what we women do to ourselves, for love. Doing things for the sake of our children. How do we humans become emotionally disconnected? Why do we allow it? Oh yeah, but this is fiction, right. . .

FABULOUS!!!

Fabulous doesn't do it justice. I enjoy reading love stories and this one was age-appropriate for me. The author skillfully wove tragedy, love at first sight, angst of mourning children, and happily ever after. This was my first Danielle Steel Book. It won't be my last. Dan John Miller is the best Audible narrator I've heard to date. He switched characters without losing me in the changeovers. I will be looking for him, again, too. I would recommend this book, author and narrator to my romance novel-loving friends.

Redundant

I found the book fun and cute but got irritated by the redundancy and repetition. I got it the first time.

loved the narrative.

Would you consider the audio edition of Country to be better than the print version?

I have always been a big reader, even as a child but now as I've gotten older my vision is not that great so with audio books I can get comfortable and just listen. I love it!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Country?

I really liked that while this story was very romantic it was not raunchy.

Have you listened to any of Dan John Miller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not before but I have since sought out others. :-)

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sometimes first chances at love come later in life.

Any additional comments?

Classic Danielle Steele

like book except for romantification of slavery

liked everything except where andrew jackson needed 100 enslaved people for the upkeep of his grounds. that justified that he had human beings in bondage. there is no excuse for that.

Great naration and good concept

Would you ever listen to anything by Danielle Steel again?

maybe

What about Dan John Miller’s performance did you like?

good

Could you see Country being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

modern it up a bit and they may make Hallmark

Any additional comments?

easy to listen to. surprised that an SF writer would be so antiqueted as to how women play a role today...I would really love to be more supportive.

Loved it!!!

I loved this story and the performance. I felt like I was right there with Stephanie and Chase. I laughed out loud and cried with them. And the secondary characters were well rounded. Danielle Steel is the best at story telling. A must read/listen!!
