Circle of Quilters (Unabridged)

I've been a fan of Jennifer Chiaverini for years and have read most of her books. I believe that this one is one of her best! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Made me want to learn to quilt

What a great book! Was not sure what to expect from this book - but was pleasantly surprised at how I loved every character. After listening - I am actually considering learning to quilt - bought a beginners book today!

Outline was great

I appreciate many different writing styles. The style used in this book definitely is by far the funnest I enjoy! I do not want to spoil it for anyone, but I found myself on more than one occasion thinking, I saw that coming, or I love the intricacy at that part and oh, look at all that is left open, but happy some stories were hopefully settled. Enjoy. As I am excited to listen to the next one!

Great Listen

Ms. Chiaverini has a hit here. Detailed enough for those who quilt and wonderful for those who don't. The cast of characters will be with you for a long time. Cynthia

Couldn't put it down

Once I got into this book and realized the depth that was going into each of the main characters I couldn't stop listening to it. I loved it and it will stay with me for a long time. The reader was so amazing because I heard so many different voices and accents.

Not Impressed

Up to this point, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series. However this one left me frustrated. All but one of the female characters were represented as weak, timid, and borderline emotionally unhealthy by being involved in toxic relationships whether that was with a partner or friend. It left me exhausted and frustrated that the women were so equally emotionally unhealthy. I don’t think was good representation of a protagonist and antagonist. I wanted more variety in personalities as it could have offered a more gripping story.

Several of the storylines were to drawn out. Too much backstory was given that didn’t add to the character itself.

The performance was excellent as usual. Christina Moore has been so consistent with her Elm Creek characters.

Overall I’d recommend the story if only to continue the story line of Elm Creek Manor and all the quilters.

A great read

I loved the bbn premise of exploring the backgrounds of the various applicants for job openings at Elm Creek Quilts. Each applicant faced specific challenges in their lives. The resolution was believable and leaves room for a follow up story.

Delightful surprise

I was so prepared to hate this book, questioning what had intrigued me into buying it. I'm not (yet) a quilter and I still don't know what made me put it into my shopping cart. Even when I started it, right after finishing a wonderful book, I was expecting to be disappiointed. As the charactrs were laid out before me, the negative anticipation gave way to empathy and delight. I really cared about the five "applicants" and now, a day or two later, I'm thinking should get a book later in the series just to see how they have fared.

The downside of this novel is that now I am not certain the I will ever take up quilting, which I've always planned to do "eventually." The book makes it sound very complicated and time consuming and a pasttime requiring more attention and time than I have available. For those who are already quilters, it is probably lots of fun to read about familiar designs and techniques, and even perhaps get hints of new ones.

I have read that this particular novel is different from others in the series. I will certainly read another of the novels. This, as a stand-alone, is quite good.

Loved, loved, loved

I find that if a book grabs me and I don't want to leave it then it's a 5! This one did just that, all of her book do. I love to quilt, but listening to quilting stories while I quilt just puts the icing on the cake!
