Publisher's summary

Claire is too innocent to suspect that her marriage is a cruel farce, believing instead that the dangerous accidents that keep appearing in her path are just that - accidents. She wedded Justin Leroux suddenly and silently. He was the tall dark stranger of her girlhood dreams, and had finally come to take her away. She returns with him to Sans Songe, the Leroux family plantation in Louisiana. A near-fatal accident on the road to the plantation does not bode well for her future there.

a wonderful story

I first read this in a paperback edition found when rummaging books at a thrift store many years ago. I have replaced that copy many times over the years, always getting another copy when mine went missing. I love the story, and it's one of the few mysteries that kept me guessing up until the reveal. In addition, it's wonderfully written, with a set of misunderstandings being compounded one atop another throughout, with a bit of humor here and there to keep you glued to the story. I have never been able to stop reading until the end...and I re-read this one annually; it’s one of the best. As for this, the narration was excellent, and brought new life to a much loved story. Thank you, I enjoyed it tremendously!

Bride Of A stranger

I really enjoyed this book! It is historic romance at it's best. This author and narrator did a great job.

Romance with little romance

This was more a suspense/mystery story than a romance story. Narrator did an excellent job though!
