Publisher's Summary

Sometimes in life you need a little breathing room, especially when your life has just fallen apart. Dr. Isabel Favor, America's diva of self help, knows this all too well. She's lost her fiancé to a disorganized earth mother, her accountant has absconded with her money, and her self-help empire is in shambles. She flees the country to Tuscany, waiting for life to settle down, but the biggest disaster lies just ahead. On one unforgettable night, she's about to meet Lorenzo Gage, Hollywood's favorite villain.

Critic Reviews

"Phillips has created a very modern and textured tale: witty, moving, passionate and tender." (Publishers Weekly)
"Stunningly vivid descriptions and some of her most complex protagonists to date." (Library Journal)

Another Fun Listen

I enjoy all Susan Elizabeth Phillips books. Characters are well developed. The humor and sizzle are so great together. She never fails to have me laughing out loud as I read or listen. Favorites have been the ones dealing with the Chicago Stars Football team but this one was just as good in my opinion.

I am a big Susan Phillips fan! While I alway enjoy her stories and characters, this was one of my favorites. The charaters were funny and had great lines.I laughed out loud often. I recommend this to you if you like fun, contemporary romance!

Nice summer read.

This book was a nice change of pace from what I had been reading, much lighter but very predictable.

not the best.

I have so many of ms Phillips books that I listen to over and over again. This one, probably not. The narrator, as always was great, the storyline slow. Too many characters to get interested in, I am not sure that last comment made sense. Don't miss this author's Chicago Star's series!

not her best

I've read SEP's Chicago Stars series and really liked it, so tried this one because it was the same narrator. This book has some of the same dialogue and story trajectory but the second half veers into some silly, unrealistic areas that I felt were unnecessary. 3 stars mainly for the always fun dialogue between the protagonists.

Lacked the usual SEP suspense

I felt that the relationship between these two characters occurred too quickly. It just doesn't get you as excited when it comes too easy.

Lots of heart and kindness <3

Any additional comments?

This was another over the top story from SEP. Enjoyed the banter and the true kindness that the heroine possessed, which was in an indisputable manner. Fun & Love as always.

We all evolve over time.....

What did you love best about Breathing Room?

Life is full of surprises. I could empathize with Dr. Favor and her situation. I know how hard it is to change but sometimes we must.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I actually liked Lorenzo. He knew his life was an empty void even though he had everything he could ever want. He did something about it. Refreshing.

Who was the most memorable character of Breathing Room and why?

I enjoyed Dr. Favor. I could relate to her. Change is hard but it can also be a beautiful thing.

Any additional comments?

I would definitely read more books by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

Eye Roller Throughout!

What disappointed you about Breathing Room?

It was so cliche and boring. I have read a few other SEP books and this, by far, is the worst one. I liked the others. Characters were boring, love interest was silly, emotions were strange, everything was forced. And sometimes I thought it was absurd...

Has Breathing Room turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. Its just another dumb one to have to sort through.

What does Kate Fleming bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She did a good job in parts. I knew who was speaking by the tone of her voice. Though she made the hero's voice sound a bit like an idiot. Maybe he was... Who wants a romance hero to be an idiot?

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Any redeeming qualities?.... hmm. I'll keeping thinking if there was anything.
