Publisher's summary

New York Times best seller.

Escape to Stony Point, cuff your jeans, and walk along the water's edge in this nostalgic story bringing old friends and their lives back to the sea.

After years of pursuing a denim design career, Maris Carrington never imagined trading her Chicago studio for a New England shingled cottage. But a forgotten home movie tucked inside a dusty attic box leads to an unexpected summer...one of uncovering family secrets while settling her father's estate, one of inheriting a forlorn German shepherd, one of reconnecting with old friends on a weathered boardwalk beneath starlit skies, on a beach nestled in a crook of the Connecticut coast.

Her design career had become a shell, curving around her like the intricate whorls of a conch, shielding her until now. Until fried clam dinners and carousel rides beckon a lost love. But can Maris ever really go back? Can these beach friends ever be who they were to each other all those summers ago? Now, one of her circle is dead; another unemployed and struggling in a tenuous marriage; another regretting a fateful decision; while one is missing a mother, ever seeking a connection she longs for.

To the backdrop of seaside cottages and a boarded up beach hangout, to the soundtrack of whispering lagoon grasses and a vintage jukebox, Blue Jeans and Coffee Beans asks if we can really design our own lives, or if our fate lies somewhere in the stars.

Hard to follow

This book had quite a few characters and it was hard for me to keep up with who and what was going on. I may go back in the future and try again but for now I won’t be buying the next book.

Predictable

The story itself wasn’t bad but it was very predictable and I didn’t like the narrator.

Can’t get past the narrator

I can’t even give a review about the book because I just purchased this in audible - I was so excited to have stumbled across this series tonight - got my cup of tea and got cozy in bed to listen and then the voice happened. I cannot even listen to this because I can’t get past the voice. I don’t like His voice he sounds so blah and He talks to fast. And I can’t even engage enough to listen. I am sooooo disappointed. I hope you find a better narrator for this saga!

Good Story with horrible Narration

The Story was good . I liked the whole old friends together again storyline, but the narrator was terrible. He sounded like her was telling a story to a room full of first graders. I hope the next book in the series fairs better.

Good story

The story line is good. Enjoyed the story enough to get the next book but have bought the paperback version. Didn’t enjoy the narrator. No offense Mr Cracknell, just felt like the narration should have had more emotion.

Couldn’t get past the narrator

I made it to chapter 10 but just can’t go further because of the narration. He sounded robotic. So disappointing. Was looking forward to a new series.

Don’t waste your time

The general theme of this story is good and worth trying to follow, but the reader was awful. I normally love listening to Audiobooks but this one needs to be read the old fashioned way ! His influx and tones reading this story gave me anxiety .....
