Publisher's Summary

"Whoever said a straightened hand was more dramatic than a healed heart, anyway?"

A young orphaned boy was abandoned and raised in an Ethiopian monastery. He has never seen outside its walls - at least, not the way most people see. Now he must flee or die.

But the world beyond is hardly ready for a boy like Caleb. When relief expert Jason Marker agrees to rescue Caleb from the monastery, he unwittingly opens humanity’s doors to an incredible journey filled with political intrigue and peril. Jason and Leiah - the French-Canadian nurse who escapes the monastery with him - quickly realize Caleb’s supernatural power to heal. But so do the boy’s enemies, who will stop at nothing to destroy him. Jason and Leiah fight for Caleb’s survival while the world erupts in debate over the source of the boy’s power.

In the end nothing can prepare them for what they discover.

The Miracle of Healing the Human Heart

I like faith based fiction, and this one is particularly good. I appreciate that it depicts religious leaders as human beings, flawed and not always as they appear to be or should be. Evil is present in all places, even churches and sometimes ESPECIALLY churches, when those who call themselves Christians fail to humble themselves and instead become like everyone else around them, seeking all the things that this world offers, instead of walking with Him. It is a daily struggle to follow Christ, and we fail many, many times. But as Caleb said, the healing of a heart is as much a miracle as regaining sight or healing a shriveled limb.

More than I expected!

This was one of the BEST books I've ever listened to!! It had me crying, sitting at the edge of my seat in anticipation, holding me chest in shock and most of all overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit. I cannot wait to get and listen to the second book. I've never read a Ted Dekker book before but I am very happy that this was my first.

You know a man writes by the Spirit when after reading his books you want to spend time with the Spirit. Dekker is always pointing to Jesus...His life, His love. A real blessing this book.

Don't Miss This Book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is my new favorite Ted Dekker book. I have read many of his novels and have enjoyed all of them, however, this one is particularly good. Through the compelling characters, it reveals some of the mystery of the working of the Holy Spirit and the power of the Church. I feel moved and empowered after reading this story. Don't miss it!

excellent story!!! It drew me in !!!

Very engaging story and even though I knew it was fiction , the possible reality of it was powerful. The underlying truth of God's love for the world and his desire for all men and women to know him intimately was made even more real to me. if you are the same after listening to this book as you were before , then you have a heart of stone.

First book by Ted Dekker/Bill Bright

This book is going to make me think about the fruit of the spirit for awhile and how God can heal. Leah gave me hope that God first and foremost loves all of you, even your imperfect body and another can too when you let them in. I have cerebral palsy so this book gave me a lot of hope after reading. Can't wait to read Book 2 and more by Ted Dekker. Loved that it was collaborative effort too.

Only thing that was a little difficult was how some characters voices sounded like the same character when it was a different character.

What A Great, Imaginative, Eye Opening Book!

What did you love best about Blessed Child?

That the authors took on some incredibly challenging themes from the bible and applied them without apology to modern times. The book has depth, imagination, and a deeper view of the Kingdom of Heaven than I've ever come across in modern Christian fiction.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blessed Child?

The moment when the main characters are shown a view of the Kingdom of Heaven, as it exists around them in reality.

What about Benjamin L. Darcie’s performance did you like?

A reader of an audiobook can really make or break a book. This reader does an excellent job of carrying the listener into the book.

If you could take any character from Blessed Child out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Well, Caleb, of course. I would love to talk to someone who really took God and His Kingdom as a fact of life like that.

Any additional comments?

I love the fact that this book was written without the political bias I've come across in many other Christian fiction books that try to take on end times and modern day themes. Even though there are politicians in this book, as well as the media, neither is portrayed as evil or sacred based their politics.
