Publisher's summary

A tough young cowboy, a beautiful palomino horse, a few pretty girls...and lots of horse thieves. Young Billy Howard watched his parents being murdered, watched his dad's horses being stolen, and rode from Texas to Montana to Arizona in search of the killers. He finds romance along the way, and for him love is as elusive as horse thieves. But he never gives up on either.

A Nice Western

What made the experience of listening to Billy Howard and the Palomino the most enjoyable?

It was a combination of several mini-stories in the life of Billy Howard.

Would you recommend Billy Howard and the Palomino to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend it to my friends who read westerns. It was not up to par with Zane Gray or Louie Lamore but it was ok.

What about Jim R Sartor’s performance did you like?

The narrator was very good and helped move the story along.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would not. this book is not suitable for a movie now. If it was made into a movie during the spaghetti westerns then perhaps.

Shoot em up Western

Lots of action and western color. Very well narrated . I like westerns as a rule and Billy Howard and the Palomino by Chimp Robertson did not disappoint. If you are looking for War and Peace or Grapes of Wrath, this is not for you but if you are looking for a good way to spend 7 hrs and 35 mins this is for you. Great Story About Cowboys and Horses

Billy Howard and the Palomino was a solid story. I think Chimp Robertson is an awesome author. This story appealed to me on many levels. It was adventuresome and had a very likeable protagonist, Billy. And even the palomino was a huge part of the story. I love horses and as I was listening I couldn't help thinking that my younger self would have loved it as well. It was relaxing with nothing heavy and would appeal to any age in my opinion.

Jim R. Sartor's narration was excellent. He had a perfect voice for the story and was able to fluctuate the character's voices to make them stand out. His Texas accent was spot on. I don't know whether or not he's Texan, but he nailed it. I would guess yes as I am too. I would love to hear more audiobooks by this pair. An overall wonderful listen.

Billy Howard and the Palomino

Billy Howard and the Palomino
: Chimp Robertson

As I listened to this book I felt that I had read this somewhere in the past, but it isn't listed in any of my GoodReads records. I'm sure I will figure it out eventually.

Billy, a cowboy is chasing after the man that killed his parents and stole their horses. This is an accounting of his adventures taking on bad guys and meeting lots of young women in the process. The listener will follow along to see if he will accomplish his goals. An easy listen when you want something not too intense.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Jim R Sartor slow spoken delivery was too slow for me, but I sped it up on my Kindle so it wasn't annoying.
