Publisher's summary

Greer Hennessy needs palm trees.

As a movie location scout, picture-perfect is the name of the game. But her last project literally went up in flames, and her career is on the verge of flaming out. Greer has been given one more chance, if she can find the perfect undiscovered beach hideaway for a big-budget movie. She zeroes in on a sleepy Florida panhandle town called Cypress Key. There's one motel, a marina, a long stretch of pristine beach and an old fishing pier with a community casino-which will be perfect for the film's explosive climax.

There's just one problem. Eben Thibadeaux, the town mayor, completely objects to Greer's plan. A lifelong resident of Cypress Key, Eben wants the town to be revitalized, not commercialized. After a toxic paper plant closed, the bay has only recently been reborn, and Eb has no intention of letting anybody screw with his town again. But Greer has a way of making things happen, regardless of obstacles. And Greer and Eb are way too attracted to each other for either of them to see reason.

Between an ambitious director and his entourage-including a spoiled "It Boy" lead actor-who parachute into town, a conniving local ex-socialite, and a cast of local fangirls and opportunists who catch the movie bug, nothing is going to be the same in Cypress Key. Now Greer is forced to make some hard choices: about the people and the town she's come to care about, and about her own life. True love is only for the movies, right? Can Greer find a way to be the heroine in her own life story? Told with inimitable heart and humor, Mary Kay Andrews' Beach Town is the perfect summer destination.

Another win for Mary Kay Andrews!

I really enjoyed Beach Town. Mary Kay Andrews does it again! I love all of her books. This one did not disappoint. I especially love when I know the locations in which the books are taking place. I love how Kathleen McInerney portrays all the characters.thank you Mary Kay Andrews for another 14 hours of enjoyment!

lacked flow and originality

This was the second book that I just listened to by this author, and the character arch was the same as the last one. It felt very much like I was listening to the same book all over again, just in a different setting.

Enjoyed this book

Beach Town is a good "summer" book. Light and lively. It moves along at a good pace and there are several small subplots keeping it interesting.

Okay

This book was okay but it wasn't my favorite book the author has written. It seemed the romance was hasty and rushed. The plot line of the movie set was not very important and was discussed too much.

Not my favorite Mary Kay Andrews book.

I usually love Mary Kay Andrews books. I always look forward to reading her new ones and seeing what fun and exciting things she has in store for her characters. I felt this book was flat compared to other books she has written. I didn't laugh out loud like I do with her other books. If you enjoy Mary Kay Andrews this was a decent read. If you are not familiar with her or her writing I would probably read one of her other books first.

Easy listen, but average story

I love MKA but this story didn't really measure up to her other books. The beginning of the book was slow and the story seemed to "wander in the dark" before finding a plot line. The last 2-3 hours were great, but the rest of the book was just OK.
