Publisher's summary

The latest in this enchanting and fast-selling series, featuring the beloved ghost Aunt Dimity, opens in a picturesque English cottage where the lovable Lori Shepherd is up to her elbows in pureed carrots and formula bottles, striving to be the perfect mother to twins! Luckily, a beautiful Italian nanny arrives just in time - so Lori can help settle the local civil war stirred up by a visiting archaeologist's excavation.

With Reginald, the stuffed pink rabbit, and Edmond Terrance, the stuffed tiger in tow, Lori hunts down a missing document, and the archaeologist digs up a lot more than artifacts. It is Aunt Dimity's magic blue notebook that provides the key to buried secrets and domestic malice, and shows all the residents of Finch that even the darkest acts can be overcome by forgiveness.

Ok

Not as good as prior books in the series. A bit slow and more repetitive, w a larger cast of characters which got confusing at times. It was good though to have more than one mystery thrown in and with no one being murdered in the process.

Annoyingly Disappointed

I love the Aunt Dimity series. I have read many of the books and listened to one through the library’s books on cd program. I was very disappointed in Ms Linden’s reading of the story. None of the characters sounded even close to what I hear in my head when I read Atherton’s books. It was so annoying I didn’t mind missing some of the story when interrupted by my son or the needs of my dog. I would love to hear the book again, if you find someone else to read it.

Love love love

Loved it and I love audible read as I'm normally just too busy to pick up a book. This way always me to listen to great books while making dinner, driving or crocheting or cleaning house. I've listened to almost all the Aunt Dimity books and I love them all!

Great series

I really enjoy the Aunt Dimity books. Nancy Atherton writes well. Her characters are engaging. Having started with Book 1, I readily buy into the “willing suspension of disbelief “ which is at the core of this series. It is only because of this complete devotion to Nancy’s stories that I am listening to this one to the end. Teri Clark Linden should not be reading stories on Audible. Her style is stilted and unnatural and very difficult to listen to. I looked ahead to more of Nancy’s books that I want to experience and was very disheartened to see that Ms. Linden is narrating several of them. I will not be purchasing those Audible versions.

Another good edition to the Aunt Dimity's world

This is the fourth Aunt Dimity book I have read recently. I liked that she focused on village life in Finch. One thing that I found annoying was the use of an Irish accent to narrate two characters born and raised in Finch (part of the Cotswold area of England). I think I need a break from the books as Lori's jumping to conclusions and overreaction also detracted a bit.

Love the book, dislike the reader!

I love Aunt Dimity books but it would have been much better read by someone else. Intensely dislike the reader.
Some parts are just read monotonously, lots of long spaces between one word and another. Some characters sound very much out of character.

Narrator is not a good fit.

The Aunt Dimity series of books are fabulous reads, but the narrator does not fit the part. Lori Shepherd is a younger woman and should have a much more vibrant voice. If I didn't love the story so much I wouldn't listen to these.

Delightful

Relaxing, fun light-hearted, clean, mysterious, mystical. I feel like I'm back in school writing an essay.

exceedingly tedious

I love to read Aunt Dimity books, so I thought I'd enjoy this one, but I found it extremely difficult to listen to. My mind kept wandering, probably because I found the tempo too slow and the accents forced and difficult to believe. About 1/3 through the book, I gave up and moved on to another book.
